NGED Approved Wireman / HV Electrician Substations (UK Wide) We are currently supporting a major infrastructure contractor on a long-term programme of works across the UK, with a focus on substation upgrades and overhead line replacement projects. We are looking to engage an experienced NGED-approved Wireman / HV Electrician who is confident working on substations and able to operate unsupervised . The Role: Installation, wiring and commissioning within HV substation environments Working on infrastructure linked to overhead line replacement projects Carrying out works in line with National Grid / NGED standards Operating as a competent, authorised person on site Working across multiple UK locations (lodging/travel required) Requirements: Proven experience as a Wireman / HV Electrician on substations NGED or National Grid authorisation (or demonstrable equivalent) Experience working at HV levels (e.g. 132kV, 275kV, 400kV) Ability to work unsupervised as a competent person Relevant certifications such as TP137 (desirable) Strong understanding of safety procedures and electrical standards What We re Looking For: Candidates with a strong track record on National Grid or DNO projects Individuals comfortable working nationwide Reliable, self-sufficient engineers who can integrate quickly into project teams Details: Location: UK Wide

Job Title: NG Authorised Wireman / Electrician Location: National Grid Substation - Swansea North, Wales Job Type: Temporary (Contract) Start Date: 23rd February 2026 End Date: 28th August 2026 Hours: 07:30 - 17:30 (Approx. 45 hours per week) Rate: 300 - 320 per day (Dependent on Experience) Overview: We are seeking an experienced NG Authorised Wireman / Electrician to support installation and maintenance works on a major UK transmission infrastructure project. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in high-voltage substation environments and proven experience working to National Grid standards. Key Responsibilities: Carry out electrical fitting activities on high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and associated plant. Install control and protection systems in line with project specifications. Undertake installation of earthing systems. Install outdoor equipment including busbars, disconnectors, and switchgear. Perform maintenance of HV equipment to required safety and quality standards. Conduct fault finding on both LV and HV systems. Receive and manage high-voltage documentation in accordance with site procedures. Work safely and efficiently within a live transmission substation environment. Essential Requirements: Current National Grid Person (NGP) authorisation - mandatory. Demonstrable experience working on National Grid substations (132kV-400kV preferred). Strong background in HV installation, wiring, and commissioning support. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and protection diagrams. Experience working to strict safety rules and permit systems. Desirable Experience: Previous experience on National Grid sites. Familiarity with transmission-level infrastructure projects. Strong team ethic with the ability to work under programme deadlines. Additional Information: Candidates must supply their own PPE to gain site access. This role is offered due to increased project workload and represents an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile transmission programme. Immediate availability preferred.
