Job Title: Temporary Civil Site Manager - National Grid Framework Location: Melksham Contract Type: Temporary (16/02/2026 - 28/08/2026) Hours: 45 hours per week, 07:30 - 17:30 Rate: 600 per day (via Umbrella / Engagement Search) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Civil Site Manager to join a critical National Grid substation project in Melksham. Operating as part of a major energy infrastructure framework, you will take full ownership of site operations, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, and programme. This role is ideal for a hands-on manager with a proven track record delivering civils works within the National Grid environment, particularly substation projects. Key Responsibilities Day-to-day management of site operatives, subcontractors, and all site activities Development and implementation of safety documentation, including Construction Phase Plans, Site Quality Plans, RAMS Conduct site inductions, Toolbox Talks, and daily briefings Prepare and issue daily Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and authorise personnel to commence work Produce and maintain site-specific Risk and Method Statements Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion Carry out regular site inspections to monitor compliance with safety and quality standards Liaise effectively with contractors and the principal contractor's site team Attend weekly progress meetings and proactively resolve site issues or conflicts Maintain a comprehensive site diary and high standard of project records Essential Experience & Qualifications Proven experience as a Civils Person in Charge of Site Management (PCSM) for National Grid projects Must hold NSI 6, NSI 8, HSG47 Substation, and Lifting Supervisor Desirable: SSE authorisation to minimum CATIC level Strong understanding of substation environments and associated civils delivery Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain programme discipline How to Apply This role is being engaged via search.
