Your new company A leading national infrastructure and facilities management contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to join their Projects team, delivering refurbishment, maintenance and improvement works across multiple HMP establishments throughout the North West. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of secure environment projects for a well-established organisation with a strong pipeline of work. Your new role As Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple construction and refurbishment projects within operational prison environments. You will manage programmes from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. A large FM and Maintenance contractor who runs the contract for the MOJ to maintain the prison estate has an exciting opportunity.For a Project Manager to join the team covering the Midlands. This is a temporary role for 3-6 months, initially to be reviewed thereafter.The role will require passing security vetting, so a clean criminal record is essential. The role This will be home-based with daily site visits to a variety of prison locations in the Mids area, where you will be responsible for numerous refurbishment projects across the network of the prison buildings. As a Project Manager, you play an important part in delivering projects in a safe and risk-free environment. About you You will be an experienced construction/Maintenance Project Manager with experience of working within a refurbishment construction background. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile scheme involving fire safety upgrades, window replacement, and refurbishment works within a secure Ministry of Justice environment. The Role As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the project, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with all prison security procedures. Key Responsibilities Overall management of site operations from inception through to completion. Deliver fire safety improvement works, refurbishment, and window replacement packages. Manage programme, budgets, subcontractors, and site teams. Ensure all health & safety legislation and company procedures are adhered to. Liaise with the client, design teams, and key stakeholders. Produce progress reports and attend regular project meetings. Ensure works are completed to the highest quality standards while maintaining programme. Requirements Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering refurbishment projects. Experience managing fire safety or passive fire protection works is advantageous. Previous Ministry of Justice (MoJ) or prison project experience is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of health & safety and CDM regulations. Excellent communication and leadership skills. SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certificates. Ability to obtain or already hold the necessary security clearance for prison projects.
