Are you an experienced Senior Environmental Manager looking to lead environmental assurance on one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects? HS2 is seeking a Senior Environment Manager to lead environmental assurance across a significant section of the route. This is a high-profile client-side leadership role, providing strategic oversight of environmental performance on one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes. You'll lead a small team, coordinate specialist technical expertise from across the business, and work closely with delivery partners to ensure environmental obligations are met while supporting the successful delivery of the project. You'll become the key environmental lead for your geographical area, supporting project delivery while ensuring contractors meet their environmental obligations and statutory requirements. Essential Requirements: Significant environmental management experience on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects. Previous leadership or line management experience. Experience working within client-side assurance, consultancy or principal contractor environments. Strong understanding of construction contracts and environmental compliance. Experience managing complex environmental issues through to successful resolution. Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills. Ability to make balanced decisions and remain resilient when managing challenging situations. Full UK driving licence and vehicle. Desirable Chartered environmental professional or equivalent. Experience working with NEC contracts. Experience engaging with regulators such as the Environment Agency or similar statutory bodies. Rail, highways or other nationally significant infrastructure project experience. Position: Programme Manager Location: Rickmansworth with hybrid working available Salary: 90-100k (Neg DOE) plus bonus, car/allowance and excellent benefits package Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,400 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting six long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances. They have been awarded a programme of work to deliver non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects for Thames Water. The Role: You will report directly to the Operations Manager and your role will be to oversee, lead and support on a program of work including leading Project Managers. Support the design phase and manage the construction and commissioning phases, by setting up contracts and ensuring they are completed in the most efficient manner to the specification, within the time required and within the tender estimate without risk to the health and safety of all concerned while ensuring good customer satisfaction. Accountable for a portfolio of projects in North & East London and Guildford totalling over 100m. Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall performance of the projects including contract staffing, supporting the hand-over from design phase to project delivery and for setting overall contract strategy. Detailed working knowledge and experience of project management practices from scheme conception through to end user acceptance. Maintain an appropriate practical knowledge and appreciation of all technical disciplines associated with delivering water and wastewater design and build projects. Experience: Essential: Project Management experience in a variety of project sizes and complexity Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline. APMP or equivalent Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to work in close partnership with clients and end users. Delivery driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives. Extensive experience in large scale infrastructure project delivery Strategic, operational, technical and management skills Desirable: Experience in water/wastewater infrastructure Experience in using Primavera or Power Project.
