Senior Project Manager (Capital Delivery & Major Projects) Location: Barking Rate: 500 - 550 per day (inside IR35) Contract: Interim/Contract - 3 to 6 months initially with view for extension thereafter We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a portfolio of high-value capital projects across a local authority housing estate portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex projects that contribute to resident safety and the ongoing improvement of housing assets, including high-rise and sheltered housing buildings. The Role As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple capital projects, from inception and business case development through to implementation, handover and project closure. The programme will predominantly focus on fire safety and electrical improvement projects, including the replacement and upgrade of fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, and other electrical infrastructure across residential housing stock. Project values range from 1m to 8m, requiring robust programme management and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of major capital projects across the housing portfolio. Manage projects through the full project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, delivery and closure. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in line with quality standards. Oversee fire safety and electrical-related projects, including fire alarm and associated systems. Manage contractors, consultants and framework providers. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations and local government governance requirements. Prepare and present project updates, reports and business cases to senior stakeholders. Manage project risks, budgets, programmes and resources effectively. Work closely with housing, compliance and asset management teams to minimise disruption to residents. Requirements Proven experience delivering major capital works programmes within a local authority, housing association, education or similar public sector environment. Strong project management experience delivering schemes valued between 1m and 8m+. Good understanding of fire safety projects and electrical infrastructure works. Experience managing projects within occupied buildings. Knowledge of procurement frameworks, contract management and regulatory compliance. Experience delivering projects through all RIBA stages and the full project lifecycle. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Knowledge of high-rise residential building compliance requirements Desirable Experience working within social housing or residential property portfolios. Understanding of sheltered housing environments, including nurse call systems. Full UK driving licence.
