Building Services (MEP&S) Design Manage the production and coordination of the MEP&S design. Evaluate the technical aspects of the Project. Focus on competitive design and coordination with other trades e.g. ceilings and partitions. Manage design coordination with Landlord Incumbent Contractors (Fire Alarm/Sprinklers) and Client Direct Suppliers (AV/Furniture). Supply Chain Management including Subconsultants Manage the Supply Chain in the preparation of the CSA. Special focus on the Subcontractors with design responsibility; MEP and Sprinklers, Acoustics, Building Services, Fire, etc. Provide assessment of the performance of Supply Chain. Building Control Liaison with Building Control to ensure early Plan Check has been undertaken. Ensure occupancy compliance with regards to Building Limiting Factors: Fresh Air Provision, Toilet Provisions and Means of Escape. To be able to read and understand the buildings Fire Strategy document. Ensure initial notice issued Landlord, Statutory Authorities, 3rd Party Requirements, Incumbents Liaise with and understand requirements of Landlords and Fit Out Guides. Manage any Statutory Authority including Power (e.g. UKPN), Comms (e.g. Colt), Planning Permission, Listed Building Consent and Advertising Consents. Prepare, negotiate and agree the Licences to Alter (LTA) with the Landlord / Landlord Professional Team. Programme, Risk and Procurement Schedules Prepare a PreConstruction Programme. Work with Construction team to produce a Construction Programme highlighting key dates. From the Construction Programme prepare Procurement Schedule Health & Safety Possess good understanding of Construction Health and Safety. Prepare H&S documentation for handover to Construction Team. Manage Client requirements in respect of Client's CDM responsibilities Presentation Prepare inputs into the Pitch Document. Be part of the pitch team as the expert on Cost, Technical (MEP) Design, Project and Programme. Effectively communicate project costs in a clear and straightforward manner, ensuring prompt and thorough responses to any inquiries. Key Responsibilities
Work as part of a multidiscipline team on both large and small projects
Under the direction of the principle electrical engineer, design electrical services packages in AutoCAD & Revit where applicable
Development of specifications, scope of works documents, tender packs, cable calcs, wiring diagrams, schematics, loop sheets and other electrical deliverables
MV & LV electrical design, including MCCs, distribution boards, cable systems, lighting & emergency lighting etc.
Participate in constructability and safety reviews.
Design of Life Safety Systems including Fire Alarm and security
Assist in tender bid analysis process
Attend and participate in client and project meetings
Participate in project site visits to survey, monitor, review and sign-off upon electrical installations when required.Personal Abilities & Qualifications
Third Level Degree in Electrical Engineering and / or Building Services
5+ years of formal experience in industrial engineering design.
Site experience essential
Proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM/Revit
Familiarity with Amtech electrical design software as well as Dialux lighting design software.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Proven experience in electrical engineering design services. Experience required in MV and LV power distribution, generators, UPS systems, lighting & emergency lighting, vertical transportation, small power, voice / data, cable containment, fire alarm, security, lightning protection, earthing & bonding, hazardous areas and specialist control systems
Knowledge and experience of Irish electrical engineering codes and standards.
Experience of developing electrical protection systems, electrical discrimination, short circuit studies and arc-flash analysis reports. This is not essential but is beneficial
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential. Spelling and grammatical accuracy is very important.
