A great opportunity for a junior design engineer to join an expanding building services based company, specialising in building safety. Key Responsibilities Assist in creating system layout drawings and design documents using CAD software. Support senior engineers in producing calculations, schematics, and technical designs. Help prepare technical documentation, equipment schedules, and O&M information. Undertake site surveys and support feasibility assessments when required. Communicate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to resolve basic design queries. Ensure all work is accurate, compliant, and delivered to required standards. Learn and develop knowledge of fire suppression system design, industry regulations, and best practices. Skills & Experience Required Some experience in M&E, building services, general construction, or related engineering environments. Basic to intermediate experience using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar). Ability to read or interpret drawings is beneficial. Strong willingness to learn technical concepts such as hydraulic systems, compliance standards, and engineering principles. Good communication skills and attention to detail. Problem-solving mindset with enthusiasm for developing a career in engineering design. Understanding of mechanical or electrical building systems. Exposure to fire protection systems or building compliance (advantageous but not required). Engineering-related qualifications (e.g., BTEC, HNC/HND, or degree).
