Job Description
OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:
* To create and amend production Revit based models to produce assembly and fabrication drawings.
* Support the sales function by performing viability assessments of potential projects and demonstrate the potential use of MRL products by producing rendered 3D models of potential layouts and finishes to clients’ requirements.
* To work with the various in-house and outsourced specialisms that make up the Design team, ensuring compliance to standards such as BOPAS and Building Regulations.
* Contribute to the Operations team to innovate, improve and value engineer MRL products.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Use Revit and other associated software to create and edit 3D models and the detailed drawings required for the sales team, the production engineering and manufacturing team and outsourced specialists.
* Ensure that all drawings and supporting processes are BIM Level 2 compliant.
* To ensure that accurate Fabrication, Production and Assembly drawings are produced to agreed Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) for design and manufacturing.
* Work with the Production team to design for ease of manufacture and assembly (DfMA).
* Ensure all drawings are approved through the designated change control process before being issued.
* Maintain the material and component specifications database on the MRL server for each product. Ensure all materials are fit for purpose and meet the required performance specifications in the overall design.
* Create Bills of Material for products from the respective product Revit models and in conjunction with the manufacturing and procurement personnel, seek to value engineer and reduce costs where possible without compromising the objectives of the design brief.
* In liaison with Procurement, ensure that the product cost models used by the company are always up to date.
* Conduct viability assessments on clients’ designs for the incorporation of MRL’s modular product.
* Prepare Standard Details for Client information packs.
* Work with colleagues to successfully project manage the design programme by planning, monitoring, and reporting on progress to the respective Line Manager and/or Director.
* Carry out all work in accordance with the MRL Integrated ISO Management System (IMS) covering Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Information Security, BOPAS and other standards that may be relevant to the company’s success.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Minimum level of Qualification - HNC in a building related discipline.
* A Minimum of 5 years working within the housing and building industry. Whether that be with a Consultancy, House Builder or Architectural Practice.
