Design Manager - CSA Basic of 65-80,000 Benefits Listed Strong foot hold across Data Centers & Technology Main Contractor - Great career growth opportunities Potential Travel & International work in the future We are seeking a Civil & Structural Engineer to be based on site handling Design & Technical Management for the Civil , Structural & Architecture packages on 10 + Mega Watt Data centers. Managing design development from concept through construction, ensuring buildability, cost efficiency, compliance, and integration with site operations. The desire is for this individual to have a BIAS towards the civil & engineering elements. This person will feel comfortable pulling a project out the ground and handling an array of subterrain elements from earthworks excavation, muck shift , de-watering, piling, concrete slabs and general substructure works. A lot of time, money and energy is spent ensuring that the design is fit for purpose to compliment aggressive programs. These technology clients want a return upon the investment ASAP so it's all about program and thinking outside the box. The projects you will be based on range from the London Region to the Midlands. Depending upon timings and your location you will be placed on the project most suitable. For these reasons & to fit the culture of the business you need to be able to drive and be open to working away as the site locations aren't all next to public transportation locations. Responsibilities Lead the in-house design of: Piling systems (e.g., CFA, driven, rotary bored piles) Ground-bearing and suspended concrete slabs Associated substructures (pile caps, ground beams, rafts) Manage design programs to align with construction sequencing Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (e.g. Eurocodes, British Standards) Co-ordinate between construction teams, temporary works & geo-technical Ensure design solutions are practical, buildable, and aligned with methodology. Review and improve when you can. Is there a value engineering option ? Resolve technical queries (RFIs) during construction. Support in procurement & commercial inputs if called upon working in the SLT. Software Structural design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, STAAD) AutoCAD / Revit (for coordination) Excel for design/calculations Reporting Line Reports to: Head of Design & Project Director Interfaces with: Project Managers, Site Managers, Commercial Team, External Consultants Success Measures (KPIs) Timely delivery of design packages Reduction in design-related site issues Cost savings through value engineering Compliance and zero major design NCRs Smooth coordination between design and construction Requirements Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Chartered or working toward chartership (e.g., ICE or IStructE). As the Lead Technical Services Manager, you will have the chance to play a pivotal role in the delivery of one of the largest data center facilities in London, reporting directly to the Project Director and taking charge of the MEP scope from pre-construction through to completion, with a team of expeirenced Technical Services Managers reporting into you. This role demands a collaborative, hands-on approach, as you will be responsible for leading a large, multi-disciplinary team and providing comprehensive professional advice on building services, identifying and mitigating risks, and uncovering opportunities to optimize the wider project. Developing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, team members, and subcontractors will be crucial to achieving the common goals of this high-profile endeavor, which carries a 100 million MEP package for the data center. This is an operational and delivery-focused position that requires exceptional people management and subcontractor coordination skills, as you will lead the MEP design and integration with the CSA elements at every stage of construction, from initial planning through to commissioning and handover.
