Design Manager required to work for Principal Contractor JV on High Speed Rail Major Tunnels Programme. Contract initially up to end of Oct 2026 - Inside IR35 Old Oak Common/North Acton - Hybrid Working Arrangements Skillset: Design Management, Fitout, Engineering, Construction. Role Brief: This Design Manager will manage the Stage 5 asset design and be responsible for leading and coordinating all design and disciplines associated with a particular asset, facilitate the delivery of the designs, ensuring the design is technically assured, delivered to programme and coordinated between design disciplines. Candidates for the role must have a proven experience of large-scale civil engineering projects. Your previous/background experience will likely have been within Design and Engineering Project Management. Experience Required: -Educated to degree level or higher (preferably BEng or higher (MEng, MSc) and hold a relevant professional qualification. -Experience in project-based design and management across all project stages. -Good knowledge of construction of shafts and headhouses with focus on fit-out and architectural elements, along with MEP interfaces. -Experience of large complex projects where involvement with multi-discipline integration was required. -Good understanding of the NEC contract and have experience in its application. -Have an appreciation of BIM and the 3D environment, and have an understanding of digital engineering in design, construction and handover phases. -Thorough understanding of managing design related project risks. -Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015. -Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices

The Construction Manager will provide functional leadership for all construction phase activities within the Project Teams promoting Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental and construction best practice. A particular emphasis on this role is to ensure works are carried out to the requisite quality right first time every time following quality plans and ITP’s with the site team. What you will be doing: * Establish and promote best practice in Quality, health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department. * Overall management of project teams during the construction and installation phase of the project. * Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase. * Co-ordination and allocation of construction staff to projects ensuring that appropriate construction and installation staff are appointed to specific projects: based on experience, skills and knowledge. * Liaises with the Project Managers to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill-sets for the projected workload. * Overall management of construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials. * Overall performance management of subcontractors. * Ensures that the construction and installation teams are accountable for their performance against specific schedules and man-hour budgets. * Ensures that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation. * Ensures that the duties of the Principal Contractor are discharged in accordance with the CDM Regulations. * Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with quality procedures. * Interfaces with all other functional leaders within the organisation to facilitate successful development of the project from solution stage constructability through construction, installation, commissioning and handover to the client. * Ensure regular input from the Project Manager is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues. * Participate in, and positively promote, the Murphy Culture Development Culture (leading to Zero Harm) Who we are looking for: * Successful experience as a Construction manager * Proven ability to lead and interact with teams and ensure quality and safety is maintained on site. * Knowledge of company policy and procedures including safety and environment related issues

You will be from a design or engineering background, with demonstrable experience in managing Temporary Works on large-scale, multi-phase construction developments. Reporting into the Head of H&S, you will be: • Coordinating all Temporary Works (TW) activities ready for construction to meet project requirements • Programming and planning the temporary works to govern the priorities for temporary works designs • Advising the permanent works (PW) designer of proposed construction methods and advising on buildability • Reviewing method statement and work plans and other construction documents • Monitoring the TW design of the supply chain and reporting on progress, provide information and ensure coordination between all parties • Ensure the residual risks identified by the permanent and temporary works designer are addresses in accordance with CDM2015 and ensure that a CDM Design Risk Register is maintained • Ensure temporary works schemes comply with Works Information Contract Requirements Technical (CRT), Technical Standards This is an integral position within a dynamic construction delivery team and you will be a driven character who looks to drive excellence within Temporary Works and Planning.
