Mechanical Site Manager Laboratory Refurbishment Location: Southampton Start: Mid-September Rate: £300 per day CIS Duration: Several months The Opportunity I am currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join a leading global Facilities Management and Real Estate organisation on a laboratory refurbishment and relocation programme in Southampton. The project is due to start in mid-September and is expected to run for several months. The works will involve decanting existing laboratories, refurbishing laboratory spaces and coordinating the relocation of equipment and services. We are specifically looking for somebody local to Southampton who has previous experience managing laboratory refurbishment projects and technically complex M&E works. Project Scope The works will include: AHU and ductwork modifications Testing and commissioning of ventilation systems Medical gas pipeline installations Laboratory equipment moves and relocations Fabric fit-out, including laboratory benching Fire alarm modifications Gas alarm modifications Electrical works Dehumidification systems BMS works Coordination of specialist subcontractors and laboratory stakeholders The Role As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the works, ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required programme and quality standards. You will coordinate subcontractors and specialist trades, oversee Health & Safety on site and provide regular updates to the wider project team. The role will also require strong reporting and administration skills, including producing weekly progress reports using PowerPoint and working with Microsoft Project. Requirements To be considered, you will need: Previous Site Management experience on laboratory refurbishment projects Mechanically biased Strong understanding of M&E and specialist laboratory services SMSTS First Aid at Work Strong written and verbal communication skills Good computer literacy, particularly PowerPoint and Microsoft Project Ability to produce clear and timely weekly project reports Your own laptop and mobile phone for emails and project communication Ideally based in Southampton or within a reasonable commuting distance Rate: £300 per day CIS This is a great opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to secure a long-term contract on a technically interesting laboratory refurbishment programme, with works expected to continue for several months.
