You must have experience with AutoCAD, have worked in concrete, steel, timber and masonry and have a desire to work learn Revit Structure As a member of a growing team you will have every opportunity to progress. I’m looking to speak with a talented Designer / Architect for a start-up who is launching a range of residential garden offices/buildings. You may be a junior designer/architect, looking to build out your portfolio or more experienced with many years of designing residential / garden buildings. Your role will be to generate proof of concept designs and technical drawings using 3D / CAD software. As the business is new, there is a relaxed approach to which software packages are used. Although in the start-up phase, the business is a subsidiary of a mechanical engineering business with many years behind them. They operate out of a 2500 sq ft warehouse near Leeds, as well as on-site for a global conglomerate. Please note this is not a mechanical design engineering role. This a 3-month contract vacancy that offers the flexibility of working from home. The successful candidate will have previous design experience of either outbuildings, garden buildings, or residential extensions. These products will be mainly wooden in design, with structural steel supports, glass, with full utilities. Therefore, you will need to have a sound working knowledge of the various materials used in the build of a garden building (these are high end and not sheds). Requirements * Prepare and present high-quality design concepts * Developing drawings and specifications for designs * Testing as required to prove designs * Process change requests * Fault analysis/stress and strain calculations * Generation of specifications and technical documentation where required * Workaround constraining factors such as planning legislation, building regulations, environment * Produce BIM compliant working drawings and specifications * Choose materials to be used and the requirements for the finished concept, react and resolve issues which arise during the pre-design/design construction/post-construction stage What you need to have:​ * Relevant degree or equivalent work experience * Good design and drawing skills * A keen interest in the environment * A solid understanding of the materials used in the construction of garden buildings * Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals * An understanding of the relationship between people, buildings and the wider environment * Experience of working in a manufacturing-led business environment (this is not an architectural practice/design consultancy) * Experience of using Revit, CAD, Solidworks or similar * Portfolio of designs to demonstrate previous work * Good understating of UK Building Regulations * Team player * Organised, and reliable.
