About the Role

About the Role
We are looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to develop and grow alongside our client's expanding commercial team.
The right candidate will have a willingness to learn and will progress to actively managing all aspects of construction projects from start to finish.

The Role:
The Assistant QS will report directly to the Commercial Director and will provide advice, assistance and reports on all commercial aspect as required by the tasks in relation to all of the past, current and future projects as required. The role includes offering support to the Commercial Department to enable Verogen to deliver projects on time and most importantly within budget. The Assistant QS will also help the Commercial Director to develop processes and procedures to create a robust standard for the financial control of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with Cost Plans and estimating for new developments on both the Subcontract and Main Contracting functions of the business
- Working on the Active Takeoff system to quantify projects
- Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender and engagement with the supply chain
- Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and Site Agents regarding price, proven history, availability etc.
- Prepare Tender recommendations following completion of the above
- Sending out enquiries, creating comparison documents and placing of orders for Materials
- Notify in writing both successful and unsuccessful subcontractors in a timely manner
- Produce and process formal subcontract documents and certify interim and final payments and final subcontract account
- Evaluate, discuss and raise any Variation orders as required for additional works
- Prepare quotations for Client variations and monitor from submission to approval
- Assist management in efficiently dealing with any potential contractual claims
- Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts e.g. interim/final applications for payment/final accounts/payments for late monies etc. liaising where necessary with the relevant people
- Produce relevant monthly reports for the Commercial Director e.g. cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts etc. ensuring information is complete and accurate
- Assist with producing cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes
- Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with Clients, subcontractors or internal meetings as required.
- Provide advice and support to the site team in order to optimise the use of contract resources
- Give feedback to Estimators and Contracts Managers with regard to contract pricing, projected profit/loss, pricing omissions etc.

Senior Estimator
Main Contractor - London
Salary up to £80,000 plus car allowance and bonus
A leading Main Contractor who are renowned for working on London's flagship projects are looking for a Senior Estimator with 8 - 10 years experience in the industry.
As the Senior Estimator will be playing a leading role creating competitive tenders and submissions in varying market sectors.
Responsibilities
The Senior Estimator will take the lead in preparation of tenders, PQQ and bid submissions.
Responsible for planning tenders to ensure timely and accurate preperation of tender documents
Ensure effective team collaboration with the wider business, communicating with operations and commercial teams.
Work closely with the operational and commercial teams to develop and build relationships with the supply chain members, both existing and new.
Attend meetings such as mobilisation meetings, handover meetings, design meetings, bid meetings.
Ensure tender programmes, design information and methods of construction are developed with the Planning and Technical Teams.
Develop and improve I.T. systems for tendering.
Engage with supply chain to gain commitment and ‘best solution’.
Develop systems and procedures within the department with the senior members of the team.
Maintain and continuously improve commercial awareness.
Requirements
Relevant Degree or equivalent
Minimum 8 years Quantity Surveyor or Estimator experience is desirable
Proven track record of winning profitable work
Good understanding of business development and the bidding market place

You will be a time served construction Estimator with experience in Commercial, Healthcare, Hospitality, Sporting Arenas & Retail fit outs / project installations, working with some of the UK's biggest & leading industry names.
Duties:
* Estimating costs for labour, plant hire, sub contractors & materials
* Working in unison as the key linchpin with the sales, design and contract delivery teams in providing commercial business support and cost management, including cost forecast planning and time of completion estimating functions (a full fit out is normally c.12 weeks)
* Negotiate and procure subcontract works packages at the best price
* Produce project interim & final accounts both upstream & downstream
* Carrying out basic site surveys in terms of works required to make the project happen i.e. potential hazards / complications - risk mitigation
* Visit commercial / retail / hopsitality sites to re-measure the premises & to agree subcontract accounts for work in hand
* Reviewing contract of works documentation
* Authorising subcontract and supplier invoices
* Cash flow forecasting & cost value reconciliation reporting
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
* A Professional Qualification in Building & Construction or M&E etc
* Estimating experience in a comparable construction role
* Basic QS skills (not complexed)
* Commercial, Healthcare, Hospitality & Retail interior fit out experience
* Strong Excel skills required & experience of Accounts / Costing software
* Excellent communicator (face to face, over the telephone & email)
* Knowledge of building regulations, CDM & building control measures
* Strong planing & organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
* Used to supporting multiple projects of varying value up to £1M+
This role could suit someone working as: Estimator, Estimating Manager, Surveying Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager or similar (with the relevant listed skills & experience)
