Interim Building Control Lead £80 per hour (Umbrella) Rolling Contract Northamptonshire 3 days per week office attendance required An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Control professional to step into a Lead role within a busy and forward-thinking local authority. This is a key interim position where you will take ownership of service delivery, support the wider team, and ensure compliance across a varied and technically challenging portfolio of projects. The Role You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Building Control Surveyors, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and in line with current legislation and regulatory standards. This will include oversight across plan checking and site inspections, as well as providing technical guidance to the wider team. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining service performance, managing workloads, and acting as a senior point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external clients. Key Responsibilities Lead and support a team of Building Control professionals Oversee a varied caseload across plan checking and site inspections Provide technical guidance on Building Regulations and compliance Ensure service delivery meets statutory obligations and performance targets Act as a key liaison for clients, contractors, and internal departments Support continuous improvement within the service About You Registered Building Inspector (Class 2 or Class 3) or equivalent experience Proven experience operating at Senior or Principal level within Building Control Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of project types Experience managing or mentoring teams is highly desirable Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels Why Apply? Interim role for a Building Control Surveyor working with a great organisation in Manchester Your new company Working in Manchester you will be in the middle of the hustle and bustle, in the heart of the Northern Powerhouse which is Manchester. Based in the Town Centre, you will be less than a stone-throw away from all the public transport links, working as part of the building control team, working on high-profile projects where no two days are the same.The projects you will be working on will have a real impact on the people of Manchester. The variety of projects mean that your work will affect, professionals, students, families in their everyday lives. Your new role This opportunity is unlike any other. It offers you the headline-grabbing, varied projects you will not find anywhere else in the public sector, you will be working on multiple town centre regenerations, Etihad, Salford FC, student accommodation, high-rise residential, and commercial offices at Terminal 2 of MAG to name a few.Working as part of the wider building control team - which is a team of 20, you will be reporting into the technical manager supporting them on the financial and operational performance of the team. Your role is to improve standards in relation to buildings, building work and public safety, and to develop the partnerships needed to maintain the high standards of service delivery.On a daily basis you will be taking part in site visits, liaising with your team and making sure that the projects being delivered are safe and compliant. What you'll need to succeed If you are a building control inspector or surveyor with Class 2 and Class 3 competencies, then get in touch!
