Quantity Surveyor - Roofing (Pitched & Flat) and Externals - Social Housing & Public Sector - Essex The Company We are currently collaborating with a main contractor that specialises in the Responsive repairs, planned maintenance and retrofit projects for local authorities and housing associations. With offices across the UK the company now employs over 700 skilled operatives and specialists delivering a national solution with a local focus. Since their inception 20 years ago, the company has grown rapidly having completed works on over 5,000 tenanted properties and now turnover in excess of 80 million offering comprehensive works covering full kitchen and bathroom replacements, electrical rewires, boiler changes, new heating systems, disabled adaptations, external insulated rendering, general roofing, loft insulation, and external environmental works. The Role Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Roofing Division. This is a key commercial role responsible for managing the financial and contractual performance of roofing projects delivered within social housing frameworks. The successful candidate will oversee cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, and final accounts, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual obligations. The role will involve close collaboration with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure commercial success while maintaining high standards of service delivery. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage the full commercial lifecycle of roofing contracts Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts Monitor project costs and forecast financial performance Identify and manage variations and change control processes Ensure accurate cost reporting and margin protection Produce monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) Prepare and issue subcontract enquiries Analyse and negotiate subcontractor quotations Draft and administer subcontract agreements Manage subcontractor payments and performance Ensure supply chain compliance and value for money Ensure compliance with relevant contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC, bespoke frameworks) Manage risk and identify commercial opportunities Support dispute resolution where necessary Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation Liaise with local authorities and housing association representatives Attend client progress and commercial meetings Provide commercial input to operational and project delivery teams Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders Monitor budgets and cost plans Provide regular financial updates to senior management Assist in pricing new works and tender submissions where required Ensure projects meet targeted profit margins

This is a senior-level commercial position responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual management of multiple roofing contracts within social housing frameworks. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting margins, managing risk, and leading commercial activities across a portfolio of works. In addition to project-level responsibilities, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide leadership and guidance to junior commercial staff and support strategic commercial decision-making within the division. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Take overall commercial responsibility for multiple roofing contracts Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets and profit targets Lead monthly CVR reporting and financial forecasting Provide strategic commercial input to senior management Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies Manage the full commercial lifecycle from contract award to final account Prepare, review, and submit interim valuations Oversee variation identification, pricing, and agreement Manage change control processes Lead final account negotiations and settlement Oversee subcontract procurement strategy Lead negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers Ensure robust subcontract documentation and compliance Monitor subcontractor performance and payment processes Drive value engineering and cost-saving initiatives Provide guidance and mentoring to Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QSs Review and approve commercial reports prepared by junior team members Support professional development within the commercial team Promote best practice and commercial governance Act as key commercial contact for clients (local authorities & housing associations) Attend and lead commercial meetings Build and maintain strong client relationships Support dispute resolution and claims management where necessary Assist in pricing and reviewing new roofing tenders Contribute to bid strategy and margin setting Support mobilisation of new contracts Provide commercial input into contract negotiations

Assistant Quantity Surveyor required in South East London GVR Solutions are currently representing a well-established main contractor, based in South East London, who are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their special works division to work on a range of Adaptations, Voids, Maintenance and refurbishment projects. Assistant Quantity Surveyor roles and responsibilities: * Preparation of cost estimates, cost plans, tender documents, interim valuations of the construction * Sub-contract Tendering * Cost Control * Cost reporting * Liaise with all Internal teams * Attend projects meetings * Assist with procurement * Final Accounts * Provide support in the cost management and financial reporting * Attend meetings to provide QS input * Review project progress and present project data as appropriate * Working on own projects as appropriate The Assistant Quantity Surveyor must have/be: * Qualified in a Quantity Surveying degree or Construction Management degree * Previous maintenance, minor works and project works utilising schedules of rates. (particularly NHF SOR). * 1-3 years’ experience * Must hold a UK Valid driving licence * Relevant IT Skills * Excellent oral communication and written skills * A good knowledge of Maths * Strong attention to detail * Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills * Confident, Articulate and a critical thinker * Ability to work to deadlines * Willing to undertake training and development when needed. MMP Consultancy are seeking an interim Technical Officer (Inspector/Surveyor) based in South London covering three estates, interim rate Outside IR35 - £21.82 per hour LTD (With a view to go perm in Apr 2021) Duties: The Technical Officer will be expected to work under minimal supervision requiring a high level of trust and reliability whilst using own initiative, good time management skills and making appropriate judgement where necessary. * Organising repairs, improvements and adaptations providing advice and support and liaising with caseworkers and/or technical staff. * Visiting clients in their own homes and assessing the works required, having regard to the clients' choice and the needs of the property. * Carrying out measured and dilapidation surveys as required. * Responsible for carrying out regulatory checks in relation to legionella, asbestos, electrical and fire safety. * Utilising a proactive approach to health and safety, in particular fire safety in high rise and low-rise buildings. * Carrying out a proactive and preventative approach to ensure that communal areas are not neglected or misused and are maintained to a high standard. * Carrying out and maintaining records for estate inspections to ensure good standards of housekeeping and maintenance are delivered. * Completing written records following site inspections and escalating to the appropriate person if actions are required. * Assisting the Asset Management Team to ensure health and safety compliance is adhered to. Qualifications / Experienced: Qualification in a construction related field i.e. Trade or ONC or qualified by experience to a similar level.
