Our client, a regional contractor in pole position on a number of frameworks are interested in speaking with you if you have experience in the following areas;
Shallow and deep drainage up to 3m
Manhole construction & benching
Kerb laying, edging & paving
Understanding Temporary Works including shoring, boxes, whalers and framesYou will be supported with trained machine drivers and experienced gangers delivering across a diverse range of projects throughout the South West. Good pay and the opportunity to join on a permanent basis after time will be available, project examples include;
Section 278 works for new housing schemes
Roads and access for new supermarkets
New cycleways and highways adjustments
Urbanised redevelopments within town centres and mixed use areas
Country parks & energy centresHourly pay will be in the region of £13 - £14 dependant on experience and attitude; we might be able to secure more. We also have opportunities for plant operatives and gangers. Resource allocation and management of Site staff;
Reporting to the senior Manager on Department budget control procedures for contracts and progress against programme;
Ensure safe systems of work and the Company Safety Policy are practiced;
Enforcement and monitoring of the Division’s Quality Assurance and Env systems;
Management of projects/contracts;
Motivation of staff;
Communication at all levels regarding progress of projects;
Staff recruitment;
Directly supervise Sub Agents, General Foreman;
Indirectly supervise Site Engineer, Foreman and Gangers.
Knowledge skills & experience
Essential Civil Engineering/Building qualification;
Preferred BSc Degree in Civil Engineering;
Chartered status or approaching;
Evidence of relevant post graduation practical training e.g. attendance on courses for Form of Contracts, Formwork/Falsework Appreciation, Concrete Technology, H & S Management e.t.c.;
Has held a similar position with a medium to major size Civil Engineering Contractor for at least 2 years (essential);
Possesses proven experience on challenging and diverse projects with major clients e.g. LUL, HA, Water Companies, Petro/Chem.;
Proven experience from engineering background demonstrating progress to Site Agent through career development with both theoretical and practical experience;
Specialist knowledge/competences;
CSCS card;
SMSTS (5 day);
First Aid at Work (4 day);
National Water Hygiene card;
Has held a similar position with a medium to major size Civil Engineering Contractor for a sustained period. (essential)

Strong leadership and motivation skills;
Must have good organisational skills and be able to communicate at all levels;
Time management skills;
Ability to delegate and manage tasks carried out by the site team;
Good decision maker;
Sound technical knowledge;

The site is within the city and is accessible by public transport, though does also have parking if required. The contract is for 6 months, with working hours being 7.30am-4.30pm, Monday-Friday, with the option to work overtime at the weekends.
Requirements for the role
* A valid SSSTS card
* A valid First Aid
* Own PPE - High vis vest, safety glasses, gloves, dust mask and hard hat can be provided by Daniel Owen
