Due to the awarding of several new Frameworks and bidding for works in new sectors/disciples, our client a major Tier 1 contractor is seeking to employ several Estimators and Senior Estimators to be based from either their Warrington or South Yorkshire office (we are looking for both permanent and freelance staff with options for hybrid working). They deliver maintenance frameworks, capital delivery and complex civil engineering across the UK, including bridge reconstruction, environmental infrastructure, highways, tunnels, station works, lineside civils and utility installations. Our clients include Local Authorities, Network Rail, energy companies and environmental organisations. Lineside Civils, Cabling, Trough Routes & Telecoms You will be responsible for estimating contracts and projects during the pre-contract/tender stage for a range of civil engineering projects including sectors such as rail, aviation, power & utilities and Environment Agency projects in the North West region. Key Responsibilities: - Effective registration, control, and administration of tender documentation - Preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery - Presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings - Liaison with the Supply Chain team in respect of placing supplier/subcontractor enquiries - Technical and commercial appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials, and temporary works - Take-offs from drawings and production of cost-effective tenders from first principles - Effective analysis and pricing of risks - Preparation of tender submission documents - Preparation of estimating reports - Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions Requirements: - Previous experience as a Senior Estimator in multi-disciplinary civil engineering sectors such as rail, highways, aviation, and/or utilities and power - First Principles Estimating experience - Civil engineering project experience - Experience as a Senior Estimator in a civil engineering contractor organisation - Working knowledge of Excel (& Word) and estimating software

Freelance Construction Planner (Pre-Construction & Delivery) Location: Birmingham - (Hybrid Working) Projects: Birmingham - West Midlands Contract: Ongoing Freelance Contract Status: Outside IR35 We're working with a well-established main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Planner on an ongoing Outside IR35 contract to support a growing pipeline of work across the Midlands. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Construction Planner with a strong background in both pre-construction and project delivery. You'll be confident in producing detailed tender programmes, developing construction methodologies, preliminaries and logistics plans, while applying practical site delivery knowledge to ensure programmes are realistic, buildable and commercially robust. The Role Working closely with the Pre-Construction team, you'll play a key role in developing competitive tender submissions for projects ranging from £12m to £90m across the education, commercial and public realm sectors. Key responsibilities will include: Producing detailed tender and pre-construction programmes. Developing construction methodologies and sequencing. Preparing preliminary methodologies (Premlims) and logistics plans. Identifying programme risks, opportunities and critical paths. Collaborating with estimators, bid managers, design teams and operational staff to produce winning tender submissions. Providing planning support through to project award and handover to the delivery team. Drawing upon your delivery experience to ensure programmes are realistic, buildable and commercially viable. About You We're looking for a planner who can demonstrate: Proven experience as a Construction Planner with a main contractor. Strong pre-construction/tender planning experience. Previous project delivery planning experience with live construction projects. Experience producing programmes using Asta powerproject (Primavera p6 andMS Project experience also considered). A solid understanding of construction sequencing, logistics planning and project methodology. This role is focused on securing high-specification projects across both the commercial and luxury residential sectors. We are looking for a professional with a stable career history (decent stints/longevity in previous roles) and a proven portfolio of accurate, competitive, and profitable tenders. About the Projects: You will be pricing prestigious schemes that demand a deep understanding of premium craftsmanship, high-end architectural finishes, and structural alterations. Projects typically involve: High-end commercial office fit-outs and landmark hospitality/leisure spaces. Luxury residential refurbishments and structural alterations. Specialist architectural carpentry and bespoke joinery packages. Full design & build tenders acting as the Principal Contractor. Key Responsibilities: First-Principles Estimating: Produce highly accurate, detailed cost estimates and budget breakdowns from tender drawings, specifications, and scope of works. Subcontractor & Supplier Enquiries: Issue clear tender packages to the supply chain (with a heavy focus on joinery, M&E, and high-end finishes), analyze returns, and negotiate competitive rates. Take-offs & Bill of Quantities (BQ): Carry out precise take-offs and build comprehensive BQs. Risk & Opportunity Analysis: Identify potential project risks, value engineering opportunities, and margin-enhancement strategies during the bid process. Tender Handovers: Present finalized bids to senior management for sign-off and lead comprehensive commercial handovers to the project delivery and surveying teams upon winning. Required Skills & Experience: Proven Portfolio: A strong, referenceable track record of successfully pricing and winning projects across both the commercial and residential sectors (ranging from 500k to 5m+). Career Stability: Demonstrable longevity and solid commitment in your recent career history (we are looking for someone with decent stints who integrates deeply into a team, rather than jumping between brief, ad-hoc gigs). Specialist Knowledge: Deep technical understanding of high-end fit-out, refurbishment, and architectural joinery/carpentry pricing. Software Proficiency: Strong skills in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., ConEst, CauseWay, Bluebeam) and advanced Excel. What We Offer: Rate: 350 - 400 per day (Depending on Experience).
