Energy Estimator Spider is recruiting on behalf of a growing construction energy company based in Basildon, Essex, who are looking for an Energy Estimator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. About the role: As an Energy Estimator, you will play a vital role in securing profitable work by producing accurate and commercially viable tenders across a range of electrical infrastructure and energy projects. Working closely with quantity surveying, design, and operational teams, you will help prepare competitive submissions for projects including EV charging infrastructure, utility connections, private networks, substations, diversions, and associated civil engineering works. Main duties and responsibilities: Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions. Coordinate supplier and subcontractor quotations, identify pricing risks and assumptions, and prepare clarifications and exclusions. Produce high-quality written tender responses, methodology statements, and client questionnaires to support successful bids. Build and maintain accurate pricing databases and rate libraries, continuously improving estimating accuracy and commercial performance. Manage multiple tender deadlines while liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the bid process. Provide clear project handovers to delivery teams, ensuring assumptions, exclusions, risks, and commercial considerations are fully documented. About you: As an Energy Estimator, you will have previous estimating experience gained within utilities, electrical infrastructure, construction, civil engineering, energy projects, ICP works, or a similar environment. You will possess strong commercial awareness and be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate and competitive tenders. You will have excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong Excel skills and experience using estimating software are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with ICPs and DNOs, knowledge of utility connections, contestable works, asset adoption, street works permits, reinstatement requirements, or HV/LV infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous.
