Electrical Improver / Labourer (JIB) We deliver planned and reactive maintenance, full service M&E design and installation, and advanced energy efficiency solutions that help our clients maintain compliance and accelerate their journey to Net Zero. We are now recruiting an Electrical Improver / Labourer to support our growing portfolio of projects. Key Responsibilities: In line with the JIB Electrical Improver grading, the post holder will: Assist with the installation, modification, and maintenance of electrical installations under supervision. Carry out electrical work in accordance with instructions provided by an Approved Electrician or Supervisor. Assist with containment installation, cable pulling, glanding, terminating, and fixing electrical components. Use basic electrical tools, equipment, and materials safely and correctly. Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions with guidance. Support inspection and testing activities, including preparing installations for testing. Identify and report faults or hazards to supervising electricians. Comply with the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), health and safety legislation, and company procedures. Maintain good housekeeping standards on site. Accurately record work completed and materials used when instructed. Engage professionally with team members, site management, and clients. Skills, Experiences & Qualifications: To align with the Electrical Improver grading, candidates should hold or be working towards: Level 2 or Level 3 Electrical Qualification (NVQ, EAL, or equivalent) Current ECS Card Electrical Improver Progress towards full electrical installation qualification Knowledge of BS 7671 (18th Edition) desirable but not essential at entry level Previous site experience within commercial, industrial, or infrastructure environments (desirable). Basic understanding of electrical installation practices and safe systems of work. Ability to work effectively as part of a team under supervision. Willingness to learn, develop skills, and progress towards electrician status. Strong awareness of health and safety responsibilities. Full clean UK driving licence (preferred). Job Advert: Experienced Duct Fitter (with Mate Preferred) We are currently looking for an experienced duct fitter to join our team on a straightforward stainless steel installation project in a three-storey commercial building. Project Details: Location: Reading Scope: Stainless steel ductwork installation Building: 3-storey commercial site Work Type: Straightforward install (well-planned and organised project) Clearance Requirements (ESSENTIAL ): To be considered for this role, all operatives must meet the following clearance criteria: Basic DBS Check Completion of an online People Check / Right-to-Work Verification Requirements: Proven experience in ductwork installation (stainless steel preferred) Ability to work efficiently and to a high standard Must have own tools and PPE Ideally bring a mate/improver to work alongside you We can assist you with the DBS application process if required. 1st Step Solutions are looking for a pair of Duct Workers (either 2 Duct Fitters or a Duct Fitter and Duct Improver / Duct Mate) to work on a commercial project in Mayfair. On this project, you will be working with galvanised & fire-rated ducting. Duct Fitters require a CSCS Blue or Gold Card, as a minimum Duct Improvers require a CSCS Green Card & Proof of studying level 2, as a minimum Duct Mates require a CSCS Green Card, as a minimum Here are a few basic details about the project: Duration 2 months Days Monday - Friday Hours 07:30 - 16:30 (8 HOURS PAID) Duct Fitters Pay 27.50 per hour ( 100 Attendance Bonus) Duct Improvers Pay 21.10 per hour ( 60 Attendance Bonus) Duct Mate Pay 16.97 per hour (PAYE Umbrella only) Start Date ASAP This role is CIS OR PAYE only - No Limited Company payments If you would like to hear more about this or other opportunities we have got on offer, please let us know by applying with your CV or Calling on (phone number removed).
