Electrical Site Manager (Prison / Secure Estate) Up to £400/day + staying away There s a certain buzz that comes with secure, high-stakes projects: bigger programmes, tighter controls, and delivery that has to be right first time. This role sits on a major prison upgrade programme at Highpoint (Newmarket/Stradishall, Suffolk). You ll be the Electrical Site Manager on a £15m MEP package spanning new Healthcare, Combined Workshop and Kitchen buildings, plus enabling and coordination in a live secure environment. The project (you ll be based here) £15m MEP across new Healthcare, Combined Workshop and Kitchen buildings Healthcare (040): 25 weeks 18 Dec 2025 to 29 Jun 2026 Combined Workshop (042): 48 weeks 30 Mar 2026 to 12 Mar 2027 Kitchen (044): 42 weeks 30 Mar 2026 to 29 Jan 2027 Pre-con / enabling: live now through March 2026 (design reviews, surveys, procurement planning) Delivery model: sub-let labour and sundries; major kit supplied direct (capital plant, switchgear, luminaires, main distribution and large cables) What you ll be doing day-to-day Run electrical supervision on site: labour, sequencing, access constraints, permits, and short-interval planning Manage subcontract electricians and specialist vendors (containment, cabling, termination, lighting, testing/commissioning support) Own H&S: RAMS, permits, daily briefings, tool box talks, safe systems in a secure environment, and close-out of actions Drive quality control: benchmarks, ITPs, inspections, snag management, and right-first-time installs Coordinate with project team on programme and interfaces (M&E coordination, builderswork, ceilings/walls, penetrations, containment routes) Control materials and logistics, including receipt/issue/storage of client-supplied major equipment and cable Keep tight records: daily diaries, progress reporting, labour returns, QA packs, as-builts and handover support The team / environment You ll be part of a structured delivery team with an Electrical PM and a Mechanical opposite number, supported by commercial/procurement functions. The contractor is a well-regarded M&E specialist with repeat work across secure estates and complex refurb / fit-out delivery, and they typically run projects with clear reporting lines and solid on-site support. What we need from you Proven experience as an Electrical Site Manager / Supervisor delivering MEP projects (ideally in secure, live or controlled-access environments) Strong electrical installation knowledge: containment, distribution, lighting, small power, testing coordination and commissioning readiness SSSTS or SMSTS (SSSTS minimum) ECS/JIB (or equivalent trade background) HNC/HND useful but not essential Comfortable running subcontract labour, managing interfaces, and pushing programme without sacrificing quality Able to pass relevant security / vetting requirements for a prison environment Rate / package Up to £400 per day (depending on experience) Staying away costs covered (accommodation/subsistence in line with project policy) Long run of work across the phases above Interested?
