We are seeking skilled and qualified Carpenters to be employed on a permanent basis, working on a variety of projects all over the south of the UK. The Role: Reporting to the Site Foreman you will be responsible for carrying out general carpentry work associated with interior refurbishment, fit outs and maintenance jobs in commercial buildings. You will be site based, using the fully expensed company van to travel to different sites on a daily basis running small to medium size jobs Candidate: You will be a competent, qualified Carpenter with previous experience in general building or site work including roofing, flooring, joinery, interiors etc... You will have a valid CSCS card and a UK driving licence. Ideally you will have Fire Awareness, Asbestos Awareness, First Aid certificates - However, these can be gained during employment. Package: Salary approx £32,000 + shift premiums + overtime when available. You will earn approx £38,000 - £45,000 in addition to all the benefits of being employed, such as Holiday Pay, Travel Allowance, Pension Scheme, Tools and Uniform. You will also get a fully expensed company van with private mileage allowance. Due to a robust client base and relatively unaffected order book in the current climate, this well-established building contractor are looking to add a Working Foreman to their operational team. They specialise in internal fit out and refurbishment works, with projects ranging in value from c£20k to c£1m. This position will see you as number one on site operationally looking after health and safety on site as well as ensuring the quality of the work. You will be responsible for the site diary, deliveries and site program in addition to managing any direct staff or sub-contractors on site. Ultimately driving the site to a practical completion in a safe way ensuring the client are pleased with the process and completed project. Support and training can be provided if this is your first supervisory position. The most important qualities to possess at application stage are a common-sense approach, good communication skills and a solid trade background with good overall construction knowledge. You will most likely come from a carpentry background, or be a Carpenter at present looking to move into site management. You will need to hold a valid CSCS card and ideally First Aid at Work and SMSTS or SSSTS certificates. Needs to be open to learning new skills and mucking in with all trades. Reporting to a visiting PM and Director, the focus for the role will be on keeping the work on track through managing labour on site and promptly recording any problems/ delays with scheduled works.
