About the Role Our client, a fine art logistics specialist based in Hertfordshire, is looking for a skilled Case Maker to join their Wood Shop team on a 6-12 month contract, covering a long-term absence within the team - with a genuine chance this becomes permanent depending on workload. You'll be building bespoke cases, crates and plinths used to safely transport and store valuable fine art and objects, working closely with Fine Art Technicians, Project Managers and Shipping teams to get every build right. What You'll Be Doing Designing, manufacturing and assembling bespoke fine art cases, crates and plinths to project requirements Interpreting drawings, measurements and specifications to produce accurate, fit-for-purpose solutions Selecting the right materials - timber, plywood, foam and specialist protective materials - to keep artwork safe and secure Operating hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery to a high standard of craftsmanship Keeping accurate records of builds, dimensions and materials used Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop in line with Health & Safety requirements What We're Looking For Solid experience in carpentry or joinery is essential Confident interpreting technical drawings and working to precise measurements Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery A real eye for detail and pride in high-quality workmanship Able to work independently, solve problems practically, and manage your own workload Forklift experience is a bonus but not essential What's On Offer 15 per hour 45-hour week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm 6-12 month contract with strong potential to become permanent The chance to work on genuinely interesting, high-value projects within a specialist industry If you've got a background in carpentry or joinery and fancy putting those skills to use protecting fine art rather than building furniture, we'd love to hear from you.

My client specialises in Manufacturing made to measure wooden packing cases and arranging full export packing services to transport valuable goods across the world. They have major customers across all sectors including medical and scientific, aerospace, industrial and fine art. My client has been in business for more than 40 years and has 4 factories across the South East of England. You must be able to work accurately and towards deadlines and targets and work well as part of a team and be willing to be flexible towards all aspects of the role. JOB DESCRIPTION Working with Timber and Plywood to build and produce crates, packing cases and pallets for our clients products Using Power saws, drills and other hand held tools Cutting foam for crate inserts On-site packing for all customers Working to high standards of quality and health and safety Physical and varied work (heavy lifting is involved) Previous experience using a beam saw would be an advantage but not essential My client will provide many benefits including full and ongoing training on their own tools and equipment and day to day working methods, company uniform, PPE Equipment, health and safety training and regular toolbox talks as well as social events throughout the year. They are a friendly, professional business and are always looking for professionals to join their growing team.
