The Role As a Building Regulations Principal Designer , you'll take ownership of BRPD commissions from appointment through to project completion, ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act 2022 throughout the design process. Key responsibilities include: Leading Building Regulations Principal Designer appointments across a diverse project portfolio. Developing and implementing Building Regulations compliance strategies. Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams throughout the design process. Producing and maintaining Building Regulations Compliance Records. Preparing Gateway submissions and Building Regulations Conformance Statements. Advising clients on Building Safety Act requirements and competence obligations. Liaising with Principal Contractors, Building Control Approvers and project stakeholders. Undertaking technical reviews across architectural, structural, MEP and building surveying disciplines. Managing design changes and assessing their impact on Building Regulations compliance. Carrying out periodic site inspections. Managing project programmes, budgets and information within Common Data Environments (CDEs). Supporting the continued growth of the consultancy's Building Safety and compliance services. About You You'll have a strong technical background within construction and be passionate about delivering safe, compliant buildings. Undertake Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) duties under the Building Safety Act. Advise clients, designers and contractors on statutory compliance, design risk management and Building Safety requirements. Review design information to ensure compliance with current Building Regulations and relevant legislation. Prepare and review pre-construction information and health & safety documentation. Attend design team meetings and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Carry out site visits and inspections where required. Work across a broad range of projects including social housing, High-Risk Residential Buildings (HRBs), healthcare, commercial, industrial, insurance reinstatement, care homes and new build developments. Principal Designer Requirements Experience working as a Principal Designer (CDM), Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD), or within a related technical construction role. Applications are welcomed from Architects, Architectural Technologists, Building Surveyors, Building Control Surveyors, Design Managers and similar construction professionals. Good understanding of the CDM Regulations 2015 and/or the Building Safety Act. Experience working on residential, healthcare, commercial, industrial or public sector projects would be advantageous. Strong communication skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships. Full UK Driving Licence. AutoCAD experience would be advantageous, while Revit knowledge would also be welcomed as the business continues to evolve.
