Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction business based in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with experience in either tiling or steelworks to take ownership of the commercial aspects of projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects.

• Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.

• Measure and value works, including variations and change orders.

• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and accounts.

• Monitor project costs, cash flow and profitability.

• Prepare interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.

• Identify commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project margins.

• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and project teams.

• Ensure projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual requirements.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.

• Experience in tiling or steelworks is essential.

• Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.

• Good knowledge of construction contracts and subcontractor management.

• Excellent negotiation, communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Proficiency in relevant commercial and estimating software.
