Skilled Groundworkers / Skilled Operatives Confined Space Location: ST1 Start Date: Immediate Duration: Ongoing Rate: £200 per day We are recruiting 2 Skilled Groundworkers / Skilled Operatives for a short-term assignment on a Barhale civil engineering project in Stoke-on-Trent. We are looking for experienced operatives with a strong civil engineering and groundwork background who can carry out general groundworks while supporting specialist site activities. Positions Available 1 x Skilled Groundworker with Forward Tipping Dumper Ticket 1 x Skilled Groundworker with Confined Space Ticket The Role To carry out tasks set by site supervisors and gangers to a high standard, while maintaining safe working practices and supporting the site team to deliver the project safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities - Carry out general civil engineering and groundwork activities. - Undertake excavation and groundworks, including digging trenches and loading/unloading materials. - Install drainage, lay concrete, kerbs and pavements. - Work safely in accordance with relevant risk assessments and method statements. - Carry out equipment checks before use. - Keep work areas safe, clean and tidy. - Ensure all required permits, briefings and site procedures are completed before commencing work. - Attend site briefings, forums and toolbox talks. - Communicate any concerns or issues to the site supervisor. - Report near misses and provide feedback to site management. - Maximise productive working time and follow best-practice procedures. - Work effectively as part of the wider site team. Specialist Requirements Dumper Operative: Valid Forward Tipping Dumper Ticket. Able to safely operate the dumper and undertake general groundwork duties. Confined Space Operative: Valid Confined Space Certificate. Experience or competency in confined space works. Must be competent in pointing up shafts and using a trowel to complete repair works. Able to undertake general groundwork duties alongside confined space activities. Essential Requirements Previous experience in general civil engineering or groundwork. Experience in areas such as earthworks, drainage, ducting, kerbing and concreting. Valid CPCS Card. Relevant plant or specialist certification for the position being applied for. Strong understanding of safe working practices and site procedures. Reliable, hardworking and able to work effectively within a site team. Good communication skills and a commitment to health and safety. Desirable SSSTS / SMSTS Environmental Awareness qualification NRSWA Additional plant tickets such as Slinger/Signaller, Ride-on Roller, 360 Excavator or Telehandler.
