An established environmental contractor has secured a major project as part of the redevelopment of the Port Talbot Steelworks and is seeking an accomplished Site Manager to lead the successful delivery of a complex programme of environmental and civil engineering works. The project comprises habitat relocation, major earthworks, and associated environmental works across three separate sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple work packages, ensuring safe and efficient delivery while maintaining the highest environmental and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Manage the delivery of environmental and civil engineering works across multiple sites. Develop and manage project programmes and site logistics. Prepare and implement Environmental Management Plans. Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations, health & safety legislation, and environmental requirements. Coordinate and manage a specialist workforce including Site Supervisors, Ecologists, and Civil Engineering subcontractors. Monitor progress, quality, budgets, and programme performance. Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the wider project team. Candidate Requirements Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering complex civil engineering and/or environmental projects. Experience managing multiple sites and coordinating specialist subcontractors. Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, environmental compliance, and health & safety legislation. Valid SMSTS certification. Valid First Aid at Work qualification. Previous experience delivering environmental projects is highly desirable. Working closely with the Site Manager and project team, the successful candidate will supervise daily site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with environmental legislation and project requirements. Key Responsibilities Supervise day-to-day site operations across multiple work areas. Ensure works are carried out in accordance with Environmental Management Plans, method statements, and risk assessments. Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, project specifications, and health & safety requirements. Coordinate site teams, specialist subcontractors, and ecologists to ensure work is delivered to programme. Carry out site inspections, environmental monitoring, and quality checks. Identify and report environmental risks, implementing corrective actions where required. Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, and environmental documentation. Support toolbox talks, site inductions, and promote best practice across the workforce. Liaise with the Site Manager, client representatives, and wider project team to ensure successful project delivery. Candidate Requirements Previous experience in a supervisory role within environmental, ecological, or civil engineering projects. Experience working alongside ecologists and specialist environmental teams is highly desirable. Good understanding of environmental legislation, pollution prevention, and site compliance. Strong organisational and communication skills. Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple work activities. Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certification. Valid First Aid at Work qualification. Due to an increasing workload of bridge inspections and ecological compliance surveys, there is a requirement for an experienced Class 2 Licenced Bat Ecologist to support projects across the Midlands and Yorkshire. Your new role As a Class 2 Licenced Bat Ecologist, you will carry out ecological bridge inspections, working alongside inspection teams and operating from elevated access platforms.
