Refuse Collector Location: Vine Street Depot, Huddersfield, HD1 6NT Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm Pay Rate: 13.26 PAYE / 17.14 Umbrella per hour Job Type: Full-time, Ongoing - 4 positions available About the Role We are recruiting for Refuse Collectors to join a busy waste and recycling team based at Vine Street Depot in Huddersfield. You will work as part of a team collecting household and commercial waste, helping to keep local communities clean and safe. This is a physically demanding outdoor role that involves lifting, walking, loading waste, and working in all weather conditions. Key Responsibilities Collect household and commercial refuse, recycling, garden waste, and bulky items. Load and handle waste safely in line with procedures and health and safety guidelines. Return bins to designated locations without causing obstruction. Operate lifting equipment safely and correctly. Report missed bins, overflowing bins, and any service issues. Assist with skip collections and the delivery of bins and liners when required. Record basic information using in-cab technology and other systems. Communicate professionally with members of the public and colleagues. Complete timesheets, accident reports, and other records accurately. Support additional cleansing duties such as litter clearance, gritting, snow clearing, and environmental clean-up projects when required. Requirements Previous experience in a physically demanding role. Able to carry out regular lifting, bending, and walking throughout the working day. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Good communication skills and able to work effectively as part of a team. A good understanding of health and safety practices. Ability to deal with the public professionally and handle challenging situations appropriately. Flexible approach to work and willingness to support service needs. IMH Recruitment are looking for a reliable Refuse Collector to work on behalf of our client based in Hellaby, Rotherham to start as soon as possible. This is a hands-on, outdoor role and would suit someone reliable who enjoys physical work. Duties include: Collect waste and recycling from domestic and commercial properties Empty litter bins and clear litter Report issues like fly tipping and potholes Assist with container delivery and vehicle safety Support street cleaning Operating basic tools, plant, and equipment (training provided if required). Manual handling and physical work in all weather conditions. Requirements: Previous experience in waste, refuse, grounds maintenance, or labouring role.
