Yolk Recruitment are supporting a highly successful manufacturer in Saint Mellons, with the recruitment of a Technical Advisor Apprentice to join their experienced Technical team.
You will need to be at least 18 years old to apply for this position.
This is an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within construction, engineering or manufacturing. Working alongside experienced Technical Advisors, you'll gain hands-on experience whilst completing a fully funded Level 3 Apprenticeship, developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to become a qualified Technical Advisor.
You'll rotate across different departments, work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, building the foundations for a rewarding career within the construction industry.
This is what you'll be doing
As a trainee Technical Advisor, you'll support the Technical team by responding to customer enquiries, assisting with technical calculations and learning how construction projects are assessed from concept through to installation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to technical enquiries from customers, architects, contractors and installers via telephone and email.
- Providing product information and technical guidance under the supervision of experienced Technical Advisors.
- Assisting with technical calculations, including fastener and gutter calculations, whilst developing your understanding of building envelope systems.
- Learning how to review technical drawings and specifications, helping assess whether proposed construction details meet product performance and technical requirements.
- Supporting customers with technical queries throughout the design and installation process.
- Assisting site teams and Technical Advisors by providing drawings, technical documentation and project information where required.
- Attending Design Team Meetings (DTMs) and gaining exposure to live construction projects.
- Updating Salesforce and internal business systems, ensuring customer enquiries and project information remain accurate and up to date.
- Working closely with colleagues across Technical, Sales, Production and Customer Experience to develop a broad understanding of the business.
- Attending college as part of your Level 3 Apprenticeship and successfully completing all coursework and assessments.
- Maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and company procedures at all times.
The experience you'll bring
- A genuine interest in office administrative based roles within construction, engineering, architecture or manufacturing.
- A least one year of experience within an office environment either administrative, technical drawings based or customer service within a manufacturing/ engineering/ construction environment.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to speak with customers by telephone and email.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to learn technical information quickly.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to work well within a team whilst using your own initiative.
- GCSEs (or equivalent), particularly Maths, English and Science.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience of CAD, architecture, construction or engineering through education, work placements or previous employment would be advantageous but is not essential.
