Yard Operative and Forklift (Builders Merchant)

Our client is looking for a proactive and reliable Yard Operative.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, physically active environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.

You will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of both the yard and store operations, ensuring stock is safely managed, customers receive expert assistance, and the site remains organised, efficient, and compliant with health and safety standards.

A valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence is essential for this position, although training and in-house use may be considered depending on experience.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential)
• Previous experience working within a builders merchant environment (essential)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work as part of a team
• The confidence to work independently and use initiative
• The ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
