Design Manager Water Infrastructure

Lead the design delivery of major water infrastructure projects with one of the UK's leading civil engineering contractors.

We're recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a well-established contractor delivering long-term water infrastructure frameworks across the UK.

Working on a varied portfolio of clean water, wastewater, pipelines, pumping stations and treatment works, you'll lead multidisciplinary design teams from concept through to construction, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, buildable and delivered on programme.

The Role

You'll work closely with project managers, operational teams, clients and design partners to coordinate engineering delivery across multiple projects, managing technical quality, programme, risk and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.

  • Manage projects from concept through detailed design and construction.

  • Ensure designs are technically compliant, buildable and cost-effective.

  • Manage design programmes, technical risk and change control.

  • Coordinate engineering approvals and design assurance.

  • Work collaboratively with delivery teams to achieve successful project outcomes.

About You

You'll have:

  • Design Management experience within water or civil engineering infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of clean water, wastewater, pipelines, pumping stations or treatment works.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Understanding of BIM and Common Data Environments (CDE).

  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Chartered, Incorporated or working towards professional membership.
