Undertake site visits to assess access, ground conditions, utilities and other factors influencing construction costs. Obtain and evaluate subcontractor quotations, material prices and plant hire rates. Produce detailed cost build-ups, activity rates, site overhead assessments and resourced programmes. Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, Quantity Surveyors and Contracts Managers to develop competitive construction solutions. Participate in tender reviews and support successful project handovers to operational teams. Ensure appropriate allowances for health, safety, quality and project-specific requirements. Support and mentor junior estimating colleagues where appropriate. You will have To be successful as Estimator / Civil Engineering Estimator , you will bring proven construction estimating experience, strong commercial awareness and a practical understanding of how construction projects are delivered. You will ideally have: Experience as an Estimator, Construction Estimator, Civil Engineering Estimator, Tendering Estimator or similar commercial construction professional. A background in civil engineering, groundworks, infrastructure, reinforced concrete, utilities or general construction contracting. Proven ability to prepare detailed construction estimates, cost plans and tender submissions. Understanding of construction methodologies, specifications, contract conditions and commercial risk. Experience evaluating subcontractor, supplier, material and plant quotations. Strong numerical, analytical, communication and organisational skills. A collaborative, proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and contribute to tender strategy. Experience with a main contractor or specialist civil engineering subcontractor would be particularly welcome. Relevant qualifications are advantageous, although practical estimating expertise and commercial capability are equally valued.
