Senior Designer - Cladding & Roofing

Senior Designer Windsearch is proud to partner with a well-established contractor in the roofing, cladding, and envelope space, who are looking to bring in an experienced Senior Deisgner to strengthen their in-house capacity. They're based in Oldham, and this is a key hire for the business as they continue to grow. They're taking on more technically demanding projects across the commercial and industrial sectors. They have a reputation for strong delivery, good attention to detail, and a solutions-led approach to design and construction. The role itself This is a senior, hands-on design role where you ll take the lead on cladding and façade design packages from concept through to delivery. You ll be working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to make sure designs are coordinated, buildable, and commercially viable. You ll have real ownership here, not just producing drawings but influencing how projects are designed and delivered. What you'll be doing Leading façade and cladding design packages across multiple projects Producing and reviewing detailed drawings and technical information Coordinating with project managers, site teams, and commercial teams Liaising with architects, engineers, and main contractors Ensuring designs meet specifications, regulations, and programme requirements Supporting value engineering and practical design solutions Overseeing and mentoring more junior members of the design team where needed What they're looking for Strong experience in façade / cladding design within a contractor environment Background working on commercial or industrial building envelope projects Good knowledge of roofing, cladding, or full envelope systems Proficiency in AutoCAD, with Revit or similar also beneficial Strong understanding of buildability and practical design solutions Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with both internal and external stakeholders Who you are Someone who enjoys taking ownership of design packages A practical thinker who understands how designs translate to site Comfortable working in a fast-moving, contractor-led environment A team player who can also operate independently when needed Why this is good for you £60,000 £65,000 salary, depending on experience A key role within a growing business with a strong project pipeline The chance to have real influence over design delivery A stable, well-run contractor environment with long-term opportunities Our clients and their customers come from diverse backgrounds and so do we. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong operational experience within utilities or gas infrastructure who is confident overseeing multiple live sites, managing project teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing GD3 works across approximately 3 live sites at any one time, ensuring all projects remain compliant, on programme, and in line with client expectations.
