My client is a Leading Civil Engineering Contractor. Due to continued growth, the position of Site Agent has become available to join their successful team based in the Thames Valley region in North Hampshire / Surrey. The ideal candidate would be located between Basingstoke and Sunbury on Thames, although those individuals residing in locations such as Reading and Slough would also be located for the projects which are generally civils and water treatment related. This is a freelance position with at least 6 months duration and the potential for a long run of work for the right individual. Key Responsibilities Management of site staff operatives and sub-contractors. Preparing and monitoring programmes of work Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans. Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets. Manage design co-ordination. Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors. Understand and administer contract change. Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary. Foster good relations and reputation with clients. Promote and ensure all work complies with safety, quality and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures. Already experienced as a Sub Agent or a Site Agent you will have a relevant industry qualification (HND/ HNC/ BEng) or equivalent, an up-to-date SMSTS qualification, and appropriate CSCS card. A First Aid at Work qualification is desirable. You will also have experience of managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor including reinforced concrete works, drainage and structures. Experienced in people management and motivation of staff. A good organiser, both of self and others with the ability to think in advance. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is essential and the successful candidate will be happy to travel throughout our Southern Region. Scope spans structural alterations, full M&E reinstatement, bespoke joinery, premium finishes, plant room and basement works. The client expects developer-quality delivery in a residential setting. Finish levels, security, neighbour management and programme discipline are all non-negotiable. The role You will run the project on-site day-to-day. You will be responsible for the safe, programmed and on-budget delivery of every package from RC frame stage or strip-out through to snag-free handover. Key responsibilities Lead all on-site construction activities to programme, quality and budget. Manage and coordinate subcontractors, direct labour and site operatives across all packages: groundworks, M&E, dry-lining, joinery, decoration, flooring, finishes, FF&E. Enforce full compliance with health, safety, environmental and party-wall requirements. Manage relationships with adjoining owners and the local authority. Conduct daily quality inspections. Manage snagging through to client handover. Plan and control labour, plant, equipment and materials to meet operational and programme demands. Liaise directly with the client, design team, architect, structural engineer and M&E consultants. Proactively flag risks, changes and constraints. Produce site reports, programme updates and progress documentation for the Project Manager and Contracts Director. Champion high standards of site presentation. Demonstrable track record running projects of £2m+ in central London. Strong understanding of premium finishes, bespoke joinery and high-tolerance setting-out. Confident managing a mixed subcontract base and direct labour. Comfortable interfacing with private clients, architects and the design team. Desirable Experience working on listed buildings or in conservation areas. Previous Kensington / Chelsea / Mayfair postcode delivery. Familiarity with party-wall awards and basement or structural underpinning works.
