This is a key role responsible for maintaining critical HVAC systems, completing planned and reactive maintenance, and ensuring essential infrastructure remains operational. The Role You'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving HVAC systems across RAF Fairford and RAF Welford, with the majority of your time spent at RAF Fairford. Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you'll complete planned preventative maintenance, respond to reactive breakdowns and support compliance activities across a varied range of commercial HVAC assets. You'll manage your own workload through a tablet-based CAFM system, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Alongside technical delivery, you'll work closely with customers, site teams and supply chain partners to provide a reliable and effective service across the Defence estate. The role also includes participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota, offering additional earning potential through enhanced overtime rates and standby allowances. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance on HVAC, air conditioning, ventilation and extraction systems. Diagnose faults and complete reactive repairs across a range of HVAC equipment. Complete statutory inspections, compliance checks and maintenance activities. Undertake minor installation, refurbishment and remedial works. Identify faults, recommend solutions and complete repairs with minimal supervision. Maintain accurate records using tablet-based CAFM systems. Ensure all works are completed in line with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures. Complete RAMS and follow safe systems of work. Report equipment defects, compliance concerns and opportunities for improvement. Build strong working relationships with customers, site teams and supply chain partners. Participate in the on-call rota covering evenings, nights and weekends. Essential Requirements City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Air Conditioning / HVAC. F-Gas Category 1 qualification. Safe Handling of Refrigerants qualification. Previous experience maintaining and repairing commercial HVAC systems. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements including COSHH and RIDDOR. Full UK Driving Licence. Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC). Desirable Previous MOD or Defence FM experience. Knowledge of JSP375 requirements. Experience working within commercial or critical environments. Additional Health & Safety qualifications. Previous Security Clearance. Membership of a relevant professional body. Benefits 150 per week on-call allowance. Enhanced overtime rates including time and a half and double time. Minimum four-hour payment for attended call-outs. Permanent, full-time position.
