Are you a vigilant and reliable traffic marshal looking for a long-term role in York? We are seeking a professional banksman to join a large-scale commercial development for an immediate start. As the first point of contact for all site deliveries and visitors, you will play a critical role in maintaining site safety and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. The Role: Managing the safe movement of plant, delivery vehicles, and pedestrians on and around the site. Acting as the primary point of contact at the site entrance for all deliveries. Ensuring all drivers adhere to site speed limits and safety protocols. Communicating effectively with plant operators (Telehandlers/Crane drivers) via radio or hand signals. Maintaining a clear and safe site entrance and ensuring no mud or debris is left on public highways. Assisting with site security by checking credentials and ensuring all visitors are signed in. Requirements: Valid Traffic Marshal / Vehicle Banksman certificate. Valid CSCS card. Previous experience on commercial or high-volume construction sites. Full PPE (High-vis trousers and vest, hard hat, steel toe boots). Strong communication skills and a firm but polite manner. Reliability and a sharp eye for detail. Plant Marshal with Slinger Ticket Exeter, Devon 22 per hour (CIS) 8am-6pm Monday to Friday Temporary ongoing Introduction Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Plant Marshal with a Slinger Ticket to work on an ongoing temporary basis in Exeter, Devon. Key Duties Direct and marshal plant machinery, delivery vehicles, and site traffic to ensure safe movement around the construction site. Perform Slinger/Signaller duties by attaching, securing, and guiding loads during crane lifting operations. Communicate effectively with crane operators using recognised hand signals and radio communication. Conduct pre-lift checks, ensuring lifting accessories were suitable, inspected, and used correctly. Establish and maintain exclusion zones around lifting and plant operating areas. Monitor pedestrian routes and control access to hazardous work areas. Assist with planning and coordinating lifting operations in accordance with lift plans and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with site health and safety procedures and company policies. Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe working practices to site management. Work collaboratively with supervisors, crane operators, and construction teams to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Maintain excellent situational awareness in high-risk environments while prioritising the safety of personnel, equipment, and the public. Requirements CPCS/NPORS Plant Marshal qualification. CPCS/NPORS Slinger/Signaller qualification. Strong understanding of lifting operations, traffic management, and construction site safety. Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation. Excellent communication, teamwork, and hazard awareness. Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced construction environments. What We Offer Competitive hourly rate of 22 per hour (CIS).
