Are you an experienced carpenter, joiner or exhibition stand builder who can do more than just work on the tools? Maybe you're already supervising a workshop. Or perhaps you're the experienced person everyone turns to when a job needs organising, a problem needs solving or the team needs pointing in the right direction. Either way, this could be a very good next move. We're recruiting for an established business that designs and builds bespoke exhibition stands for clients across the UK and Europe. They need a hands-on Workshop Supervisor / Foreman to work alongside the Production Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy workshop. This is not an office-based management job . You'll still be involved in production carpentry yourself, but you'll also be the person making sure everyone knows what they're doing, materials are available, jobs are progressing and potential problems are spotted before they become expensive ones. What will you be doing? Supervising and supporting the workshop team Working hands-on with production carpentry Allocating work and keeping jobs moving through production Planning around upcoming projects and deadlines Checking drawings and production information before work starts Monitoring progress and identifying potential delays Making sure materials and stock are available when needed You'll also get out of the workshop. The business installs exhibition stands at venues around the UK and occasionally Europe. You'll take the lead on site when required, so there will be some travel and overnight stays. What are we looking for? We're particularly interested in people from exhibition stand building, shopfitting, set building, bespoke joinery or similar environments . You don't necessarily need to have spent years with "Supervisor" or "Foreman" on your job title. If you're an experienced tradesperson who already takes responsibility for other people, organises jobs and naturally takes the lead, we'd be interested in talking to you. You'll need to be practical, organised and comfortable dealing with people. Most importantly, you need to understand that good supervision isn't about standing back and telling everyone else what to do. When things get busy, you'll be in there with the team getting the job finished. What can you earn? We'll be upfront: the basic hourly rate isn't top dollar. The overall earning potential is considerably better. The basic rate is 16.67 per hour for a 40-hour week , equivalent to approximately 34,700 a year. On top of that you'll receive: 175 per week Foreman allowance , worth approximately 9,100 a year Overtime at time and a half - 25 per hour Weekly tool allowance 22 days' holiday plus bank holidays Company pension Expenses covered when working away The nature of exhibition work means overtime is regularly available. With relatively modest overtime, total earnings are around 50,000 a year , while someone averaging around 10 hours' overtime per week would earn approximately 57,000 . During particularly busy periods, there is scope to earn more. So if you're looking purely for the highest hourly rate, this probably isn't the job for you. But if you want to remain hands-on, take on more responsibility and have the opportunity to earn 50k+ through the Foreman allowance and overtime , it's well worth a conversation. Coburg Banks Limited is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
