Mechanical Estimator Scotland 55,000 - 75,000 + Excellent Benefits Your new company Due to a significant increase in secured workload across major defence, infrastructure and commercial projects, our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their pre-construction team.This established M&E contractor has an enviable reputation within the Scottish Building Services market and continues to secure high-profile projects across healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, residential and public sector environments. Following several major project wins and a strong pipeline of future work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support their continued growth. Your new role As Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of tenders and pre-construction activities across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout Scotland.Working closely with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate and commercially competitive mechanical estimates from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Key responsibilities will include: Preparing detailed mechanical estimates and tender submissions. Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation. Carrying out take-offs and preparing accurate cost plans. Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations. Identifying value engineering opportunities. Assessing project risks and opportunities. Attending tender review and client meetings. Working closely with operational and commercial teams during handover. Supporting business development activities by contributing to winning tender submissions. Maintaining awareness of market trends, supply chain pricing and labour costs. What you'll need to succeed Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the Building Services sector. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, pipework and public health systems. Experience preparing tenders across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial or public sector projects. Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail. Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations. The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A recognised Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or related qualification. Experience working on projects ranging from 500k to 20m+ would be highly advantageous.
