Emerton Roofing (Western) Limited is a fourth-generation family roofing business based in Nantwich, Cheshire. Established over 100 years ago, we are nationally recognised for the quality of our work and have built our reputation by carrying out some of the regions finest roofing projects.
We are looking to welcome the next member of our long-established team – an experienced Slater & Tiler who takes genuine pride in producing first-class roofing work and is looking for a long-term career with a respected family business.
This is a permanent, full-time PAYE position offering a 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with Saturday overtime available at company discretion. We offer 29 days' paid holiday (including Bank Holidays) together with competitive pay based on experience and ability.
Why join Emerton Roofing?
Many of our workforce have been with us for years, and some for decades. In fact, more than a dozen members of our team have over 10 years' service, with around half of those having worked with us for more than 25 years. We believe that's because we provide steady work, treat people fairly and create an environment where skilled roofers can enjoy their trade.
Our roofers are able to concentrate on roofing. We organise the quotations, customer liaison, materials, transport and scheduling, allowing our craftsmen to focus on producing first-class work before finishing at a sensible time each day.
Our work is varied and rewarding. We do not carry out repetitive new-build site work. Instead, you'll be working on residential renovations, period properties, estate maintenance and heritage buildings, often in attractive rural locations throughout the region. Every project is different and offers the opportunity to produce roofing work to a standard you can be proud of.
About the role
We're looking for an experienced craftsman who shares our passion for producing first-class slating, tiling and leadwork.
Our projects predominantly involve the renovation of residential buildings. As a company renowned nationwide for excellence in heritage roofing, it's important that applicants are confident working with:
Random and sized Welsh slate
Handmade clay tiles
Leadwork
Traditional pitched roofing materials
Not every project is a heritage building. Our work ranges from estate maintenance and period homes to individual domestic properties and commercial buildings providing plenty of variety throughout the year.
Experience in timber repairs or brickwork would be advantageous but is not essential.
The successful applicant will start and finish each working day from our Nantwich depot, where a company works van (not for private use), materials and an assistant will be provided. A full UK driving licence is preferred but is not essential.
Above all, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, is dependable, works well with others and wants to become part of a company for the long term.
If you're looking for secure, permanent employment with a respected family business where quality workmanship is genuinely valued, we'd be pleased to hear from you.

You will partner closely with the Managing Director and Private Equity stakeholders to drive financial excellence, improve operational performance and support ambitious long-term growth. Core Skills: ACA or ACCA qualified Construction or Engineering Accounting Percentage-of-Completion Accounting Cash and Working Capital Transformation Team Leadership About us We are a well-established and highly-respected name in the UK lift and escalator services sector. Previously part of OTIS - one of the world's leading manufacturers and service providers of elevators, escalators and moving walkways - the business is now owned by R Capital. With greater agility as an independent company, we are rebuilding its platform and preparing for a significant period of growth. The business delivers maintenance, repair, installation and modernisation solutions across commercial, residential and public-sector environments, including prestigious and high-profile sites. We currently retain much of the operational infrastructure of a larger SME, while operating with the agility and resourcefulness of a smaller organisation. The successful Finance Director must therefore be equally comfortable shaping strategy, improving systems and getting personally involved in the detail. As a Private Equity-backed organisation, we are focused on operational excellence, cash optimisation, cost control and sustainable growth. This is a rare opportunity to join the senior leadership team during a major transformation and value-creation phase. The Opportunity: Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead the entire finance function and act as a strategic partner to the MD, senior leadership team and Private Equity owners. You will bring clarity, discipline and commercial insight to the organisation while establishing the controls, reporting and financial infrastructure required to support future growth. This role requires someone who can operate strategically at director and board level while remaining willing to work through the underlying detail. You will not simply manage the finance function; you will strengthen, reshape and modernise it. • Provide strategic financial leadership to the Managing Director, leadership team and Private Equity stakeholders. • Take full ownership of FP&A, financial control, management reporting, compliance, audit and tax. • Deliver accurate, insightful and timely monthly management accounts. • Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and long-term financial planning. • Improve cash flow, working capital, credit control and debt recovery. • Strengthen financial controls, governance, systems and core processes. • Provide robust commercial analysis to support operational and investment decisions. • Develop performance targets and value-creation initiatives across the business. • Prepare high-quality board packs and investor reporting. • Manage relationships with Private Equity stakeholders, auditors, banks and external advisors. • Support the business through restructuring, transformation and future growth. • Drive cost reduction, margin improvement and stronger P&L performance. • Lead and develop the finance team, setting high standards while providing the support required for them to succeed. • Explore opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, AI and smarter use of financial technology. The business is particularly interested in how AI, automation and improved systems could enhance areas such as credit control, debt collection, reporting and finance administration while controlling costs as the organisation grows. About You: You are a commercially astute, technically credible and execution-focused finance leader who thrives in high-change, performance-driven environments. Crucially, you have already operated as a Finance Director, CFO or number-one finance leader within an entity. This is not a first FD appointment or a conventional career-progression role. You will arrive with the experience, judgement and confidence to take ownership from the outset. • ACA or ACCA qualification. • Significant post-qualified experience, ideally including 10+ years in progressively senior finance roles. • Previous experience as a Finance Director, CFO, Head of Finance or senior finance leader with full ownership of the function. • Strong knowledge of double-entry accounting and core financial controls. • Practical experience of construction, engineering, building services or project-based accounting. • A strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting, contract accounting and revenue recognition. • Experience operating within a turnaround, restructuring or major business-transformation environment. • A track record of improving profitability, cash flow and working-capital performance. • Strong financial modelling, forecasting and performance-management capability. • Experience of leading and developing a sizeable finance team. • The ability to move confidently between strategic leadership and detailed operational problem-solving. • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills. • Fluent written and spoken English. A background in lift services is not essential. However, you must have experience in engineering, construction, building services, field services or a similarly project-led environment. Your Leadership Style: • You will be a visible and credible leader who sets high standards but also gives the team the support, clarity and direction required to deliver. • Leads from the front. • Takes complete ownership of outcomes. • Is not afraid to challenge, investigate or get into the detail. • Holds themselves and others accountable. • Brings energy and momentum to change. • Is analytical, evidence-led and commercially curious. • Remains open-minded, inquisitive and willing to learn. • Operates with honesty, integrity and sound judgement. • Builds trust quickly with operational colleagues, investors and external partners. • Understands that seniority does not remove the need to get the fundamentals right. Benefits: • Competitive base salary • 15% annual bonus, paid quarterly • Car allowance • Pension from day one through Aviva • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays • Employee Assistance Programme from day one • Death in Service cover at three times salary • Discretionary sickness scheme • Enhanced maternity and paternity provision, subject to service • Employee discounts platform • Employee referral scheme • Role-dependent incentive scheme Why Join? • Join the senior leadership team of a Private Equity-backed transformation business. • Work directly with the Managing Director and investors. • Make a visible impact on cash, profitability, governance and operational performance. • Rebuild and modernise a finance function rather than simply maintain one. • Shape the systems, controls and team required to support future growth. • Introduce smarter automation and new technology across finance. • Lead within a respected, engineering-led services business with a strong market reputation click apply for full job details

Associate LEXI Finance - Real Estate Debt Advisory Covent Garden, London (office-based, with one day a week from home). Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 OTE, uncapped (£45,000 base + commission + discretionary bonus) Base salary reviewed at 12 months 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, workplace pension, £500 per annum contribution towards a hobby, gym membership or welfare cause. About LEXI Finance LEXI Finance is a real estate finance consultancy based in Covent Garden, London, founded by Charlie Armstrong, Sam Le Pard and Nick Holding-Parsons. The business delivers on a broad range of funding mandates for corporate property investors and developers across the UK and Western Europe. LEXI structures innovative solutions using short term finance, senior debt, mezzanine finance and joint venture equity for all types of real estate projects, relying on bespoke, data-backed analysis to provide best-in-class advice. The business is an early adopter of AI across its research, analysis and origination processes, and continues to invest in technology that keeps its advice ahead of the market. Since forming in early 2020, LEXI has closed over £1 billion of funding mandates, typically ranging from £2m to £50m - recent transactions include a £30m hunting line for an asset manager and a £20m development loan for a 30-apartment scheme in London. The team has grown to include an Associate Director, Senior Associates, a Data Specialist and a Non-Executive Director, and the business is now looking to welcome a new Associate. About the role This is not a seat at the bottom of a pyramid. From the outset, the Associate will run live transactions of £2m-£50m, deal directly with clients and lenders, and sit alongside the founding directors day to day - learning how deals are originated, structured and closed from the people doing it, not from a training manual. The work you do will be visible, client-facing and directly rewarded. Working in collaboration with the directors, the Associate will deliver on client mandates in the debt and equity space. The individual will understand clients' business plans and key motives, configure innovative financial solutions, and play a strategic role in their business growth. The Associate will think commercially, build lasting relationships and quickly become a trusted adviser to clients and lenders alike. Progression is real and measured: strong performers typically advance to Senior Associate within 18-24 months, with responsibility and reward growing as the business scales. Development is supported through structured mentorship from the directors and regular reviews. You will join a high-performing team, drawn from diverse professional backgrounds, that strives to add value and think differently. Our culture supports teamwork, collaborative thinking and meritocracy, where individual goals are supported in unison with the company's ambitious targets.
