Overview
Chase Taylor Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading manufacturer and supplier within the interior doors, doorsets, and architectural joinery sector to recruit an experienced Estimator.
This is a highly technical and commercially focused role responsible for producing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for interior door packages across residential, commercial, and large-scale construction projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in tendering, pricing strategy, and commercial support, ensuring that all bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with manufacturing capability, specification requirements, and project timelines.
You will be working closely with design, production, sales, and project management teams to ensure seamless transition from enquiry through to order and manufacture.
The Role
As an Estimator within the interior doors sector, you will be responsible for reviewing tender documentation, technical drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed costings for doorsets, internal doors, fire doors, acoustic doors, and associated ironmongery packages.
You will be expected to interpret architectural drawings and schedules, assess material and labour requirements, and build accurate cost models that reflect both commercial and manufacturing considerations.
This role requires a strong understanding of the doorset manufacturing process, including materials, hardware configurations, fire ratings, acoustic performance, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for interior doors, doorsets, and architectural joinery packages
Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, and schedules to fully understand project requirements
Interpret architectural plans, door schedules, and technical documentation
Calculate material, labour, and production costs for bespoke and standard door systems
Work closely with sales teams to develop pricing strategies and secure project wins
Identify value engineering opportunities to improve margins and competitiveness
Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability of quoted solutions
Maintain and update estimating databases, pricing models, and cost libraries
Support post-tender clarifications and client queries
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards including fire safety and acoustic regulations
Attend internal handover meetings once orders are secured
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience as an Estimator, Senior Estimator, or Cost Estimator within the doors, joinery, or fenestration industry
Strong knowledge of interior doors, doorsets, and architectural joinery products
Experience working with fire doors, acoustic doors, and commercial door systems
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, door schedules, and technical specifications
Understanding of manufacturing processes within joinery or doorset production
Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness skills
Experience liaising with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and lead times
Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, or industry-specific systems
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a commercial team
