This is an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Manager with a strong civil engineering and construction background who has experience managing complex projects, subcontractor accounts and commercial performance within a demanding project environment. The Role As Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial delivery of the civils package, working closely with the Project and Construction teams to ensure strong commercial control, effective subcontract management and successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Take overall commercial responsibility for the civils package Manage project costs, budgets and commercial performance Lead the procurement and management of subcontract packages Prepare, review and negotiate subcontractor contracts Manage valuations, applications, payments and final accounts Monitor variations, compensation events and change control Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities Prepare and maintain accurate cost and value forecasts Produce monthly commercial reports and CVRs Manage subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account Liaise closely with the client, project team and supply chain Ensure contractual notices and commercial correspondence are issued appropriately Support the Project Manager with commercial and contractual matters Drive value engineering and cost-saving opportunities where appropriate Ensure all commercial processes are compliant with company procedures About You The successful candidate will have: Proven experience as a Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or construction Strong experience managing major civils or infrastructure projects Experience working on data centre, industrial, commercial or similarly complex schemes would be highly advantageous Strong knowledge of groundworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, utilities and associated civils Extensive experience managing subcontractor packages and final accounts Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills Excellent financial and reporting capabilities Relevant commercial or quantity surveying qualification, such as RICS or equivalent experience This is a key commercial appointment on a major data centre scheme, offering the opportunity to work on a high-profile project with a leading contractor.
