This is an excellent opportunity for operatives with previous substation experience who are competent in excavation, ducting, drainage, and associated civil works within a high-voltage environment. Duties will include: Surface water, foul water, and oily water drainage installations HV & LV ducting works and draw pit installations Installation of HV & LV precast troughs Excavation works and safe digging practices Blinding and concrete placement to foundations Reinstatement of excavations, including backfilling and compaction Hand digging and service avoidance in accordance with HSG47 Vehicle marshalling and banksman duties Operating plant including dumpers and rollers General groundworks and civil engineering activities associated with substation construction Essential Requirements: National Grid Person Authorisation National Grid Substation HSG47 (2-Day Course) Dumper Ticket 360 Excavator Ticket Slinger/Signaller Qualification Previous experience working on National Grid or HV substation projects Full PPE Ability to start on 22nd June 2026 Important: Please do not apply unless you hold all of the essential tickets and experience listed above. Civil Site Manager / SR163 PCSM Location: Pembroke 400kV Substation, Pembrokeshire Rate: 550 per day Start Date: 6th July 2026 Duration: Until 18th December 2026 Hours: 50 hours per week Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:30 Positions Available: 1 Contract Type: Temporary Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Site Manager with a current SR163 PCSM nomination to support the delivery of civil engineering works on a live National Grid 400kV substation project in Pembroke. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with National Grid procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong background managing civil works within live transmission and distribution environments and will be confident leading site teams while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and programme delivery. Roles and Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day civil construction activities across the project. Act as the appointed SR163 Principal Contractor Site Manager (PCSM). Ensure all works are delivered safely and in accordance with National Grid standards and project procedures. Coordinate subcontractors, operatives and plant to ensure efficient site operations. Monitor programme progress and proactively identify and resolve site issues. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements. Carry out site inspections and maintain accurate site records. Review RAMS, permits and temporary works documentation where required. Liaise with client representatives, engineers and project management teams. Promote a positive safety culture and maintain high standards across all work activities. Essential Requirements: Current SR163 PCSM nomination. SMSTS. Temporary Works Supervisor or Temporary Works Coordinator qualification. HSG47 (2 Day). Full First Aid at Work (3 Day).
