A leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a growing portfolio of projects across Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial background to join an established team delivering long-term works in a regulated environment. Whilst experience within the water sector would be advantageous, candidates from other infrastructure, utilities, highways, rail, energy or heavy civil engineering backgrounds will also be considered, providing they can demonstrate strong NEC contract knowledge. The Role Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from inception through to final account. Administration of NEC contracts, including compensation events and change management. Subcontract procurement and management. Cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow management. Valuations, applications for payment and agreement of final accounts. Working closely with operational teams to maximise commercial performance. Managing risk and identifying opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities. Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts is essential. Ability to manage multiple commercial workstreams simultaneously. Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline. Full UK driving licence. What's on Offer .00 per day depending on experience. Our client has an immediate need for a site based Senior Quantity Surveyor with highways, drainage and earthworks experience, on a long-term Outside ir35 contract basis. Freelance Quantity Surveyor roles and responsibilities: Reporting to the Project Manager onsite, you will be responsible for commercial administration of self-delivery earthworks packages, under an NEC contract. You will be responsible for: Day to day commercial administration of earthworks and drainage packages. Reviewing progress on site in line with commercials and programme. Monitoring, forecasting and reporting on budgets and costs against programme and producing CVR's. Reviewing payment applications and agreeing monthly payment valuations. Agreeing instructions, change and processing variations. Undertaking Take-off's and Remeasurements as required. Attending client and project progress meetings. Agreeing Final Accounts. Freelance Quantity Surveyor requirements: Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar qualification and relevant experience. 5+ years' experience working on Civil Engineering projects, delivering earthworks, drainage and highways packages.
