Job Opportunity: Site EHS Advisor

Location: Edinburgh (Inchcape)
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 10 hours per day / 50 hours per week (Mon - Fri)

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Site EHS Advisor. This role is essential for providing operational environmental, health, and safety support to ensure the successful delivery of high-voltage substation projects

Job Purpose

The Site EHS Advisor is responsible for providing primarily operational EHS support to the Site Manager and the site organization. You will act as a champion for zero harm, environmental protection, and a sustainable future, ensuring all site activities comply with legislative requirements and Siemens Energy standards.

Responsibilities

1. Site Mobilisation & Compliance

  • Ensure all required notices, Construction Phase Plans (CPP), Emergency Response Plans (ERP), and RAMS/Permits are available and prominently posted at site locations.

  • Verify that hazardous substances are stored correctly and that chemical assessments are available at the point of storage.

  • Establish project EHS Safety Representatives and maintain EHS project folders and files.

2. Operational Safety & SSOW

  • Support site management in ensuring all resources understand and sign project documentation for Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).

  • Provide technical EHS commentary for task-based risk assessments and method statements, specifically for non-routine tasks.

  • Monitor subcontractor compliance against accepted RAMS and report non-conformance to the Site Manager.

3. Induction & Training

  • Manage the EHS site induction process for all personnel and visitors, ensuring all certifications are valid before work commences.

  • Deliver project-specific EHS training and toolbox talks regarding local legislative requirements and risk mitigation.

4. Monitoring, Reporting & Investigation

  • Conduct routine and non-routine inspections to monitor work operations.

  • Log safety observations and unsafe acts into relevant reporting tools.

  • Lead initial incident risk assessments and gather information for accidents, escalating significant incidents to the PM and EHS Head.

  • Develop and issue weekly EHS Site Reports.

About You

Technical Essentials

  • Experience: Strong construction background with experience implementing EHS arrangements for a Principal Contractor on CDM projects.

  • Knowledge: Detailed understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation related to large-scale construction.

  • Qualifications (Mandatory):

    • NEBOSH Certificate (minimum requirement).

    • Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety/Environmental Management.

    • CDM Awareness and CCNSG Passport.

    • Fire Safety and Accident Investigation training.

Technical Desirables

  • Lead Auditor (ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001).

  • Safety coaching/behavioural safety expertise.

  • First Aid at Work.

Skillsets

  • Permit to Work and Electrical Safety expertise.

  • IT Literacy (MS Office).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
