Given recent project wins and growth in the energy connections industry we are seeking to employ a Commercial Manager to join and lead the commercial team. For this role you will ideally possess an energy connections, renewables or power background, however other infrastructure construction considered such as highways, rail, civil engineering with excellent commercial management skills controlling portfolios of multi-million pound construction contracts. Experience of leading a team of individuals at various stages of their careers, across multiple disciplines is required. The role To provide positive commercial strategisation and administration for our portfolio of projects is essential to ensure the effective delivery of successful results and management of key risks and opportunities. This role requires the leadership of a commercial team towards the effective commercial management of a portfolio of projects and frameworks from pre-construction to final account. The role will ensure the effective administration and management of the projects in line with the IMS, maintaining accurate reports and forecasts and will lead the creation and utilisation of a variety of processes which will ensure proactive contract management and administration, accurate turnover, cost and cash forecasting, change and risk management and periodic financial reporting. THE ROLE My client seeks a Quantity Surveyor to join their London office on a CONTRACT or PERMANENT basis. This is to work on various RAIL projects. You must have experience of all quantity surveying and commercial management duties and have good Rail experience using NEC contracts. THE COMPANY My client is a long established busy firm of PQS with several offices. My client works on projects for infrastructure and also for buildings. THE CANDIDATE You will be a Quantity Surveyor / commercial manager who has good experience of working on RAIL related projects. You should have a BSc or similar in Quantity Surveying. You may be MRICS qualified although this is not essential. You will have in excess of 6 years quantity surveying experience. You must have good knowledge in the use of NEC contracts. You will have good all round Quantity Surveying experience to include dealing with project costs, budget management, forecasting, contract administration, managing risks, performace reviews, final accounts etc. This role can be on a contract or permanent basis. The contract roles will be inside IR35 and rates will depend on your level of experience but likely to be from 450 to 500 per day with the higher salary needing some team management experience. If on a salaried basis salaries will be very negotiable plus a good range of benefits.

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveying professional with experience in delivering major infrastructure upgrade projects? Have you ambitions to work on significant, large-scale projects? Turner Lovell is recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor leading UK business that has responsibility for managing reactive and planned maintenance, and upgrade the existing infrastructure in and around Heathrow Airport. You will be working with a team who deliver a mix of civil engineering and building schemes through our existing suite of contracts with clients operating across a diverse group of sectors. As a Managing QS you will: Support the Commercial Manager in delivering services effectively and consistently. Manage the commercial and financial aspects of the projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and to the required standards. Oversee cost management, contract administration, and procurement, while also providing guidance to junior surveyors. Be involved in significant interaction with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle; prepare financial reports, including cost reconciliations and progress reports, to keep stakeholders informed of project performance; identifying and mitigating commercial risks associated with the project, such as cost overruns or delays. Participate and deliver structured training and mentoring, especially for those pursuing professional qualifications. Promote a strong culture of contractual and commercial awareness, ensuring compliance with group procedures and governance. This includes active involvement in the work-winning process, resource planning, and collaboration with pre-contract teams. The ideal profile is someone who has: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. MRICS or CICES accreditation is preferred Experience working on civil engineering schemes, or other safety-critical sectors such as aviation, rail or highways The ability to resolve commercial disputes and negotiate favourable outcomes Proficient with cost estimation techniques and in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Evidence of providing specialist Quantity Surveying technical advice and support to stakeholders, team members and across other disciplines including large and complex projects at a senior level A proven track record with managing a team to achieve commercial objectives in a timely manner.
