Job Title: SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER Department/Group: Contracts Location: Whyteleafe, Surrey Position Type: Full Time Reports To: Divisional Director The position of a Senior Project Manager is the next step towards taking full responsibility for overall site control for a project within the Company and as such the individual is required to maintain a professional persona at all times whilst representing the Company. The Senior Project Manager in addition to their own duties must be fully conversant with the roles and responsibilities of more junior staff and should be willing to assist them in performing such tasks as and when necessary. The specific duties which the Senior Project Manager must undertake are, but not limited to, as follows: •Attend the handover meeting between the Estimating and Operations Departments. •Have a thorough working knowledge of the project including all drawings, specifications, programme etc. •Fully understand all site drawings, schedules, details, through sections etc. and have a full understanding of the operations at hand to ensure the successful delivery of the works. •Compare tender drawings and specifications against construction issue drawings and specifications and any revisions, highlighting any changes to the Commercial Manager to ensure the recovery of any additional costs. •Be able to undertake or source engineering services in respect of setting out of the works accurately. •Source labour to resource the project. •Make recommendations to the Contracts Director in respect of the right personnel to form the project team. •Be able to communicate adequately with site labour. •Take the lead in all matters relating to Health & Safety and minimise any risks in conjunction with the Survey Health & Safety Officer. Report all accidents no matter how minor. •Keep up to date with product developments in the market sector. •Ensure the works are inspected at each key stage making sure they meet the standard required. •Arrange for the works to be inspected by the manufacturer if required. •Liaise with the main contractor with regards to the inspection regime giving them the opportunity to attend any inspections. •Ensure all plant is organised, used in a cost effective manner and is off hired immediately when not required. •Must be able to produce spread sheets in Excel and write basic letters and memo’s in word as necessary. •Maintain a full site diary recording all issues for reporting back to the site team. Qualifications and Education Requirements It will be expected that the Senior Project Manager will be working towards or achieved a relevant qualification (NVQ Level 4) /BSC in Construction Management – Built Environment or equivalent with a view to career development within the Company. Preferred Skills It will be expected that the Senior Project Manager will have at least 5 years’ experience in the role of project manager/site manager having been responsible or assisted in functions described above on façade, cladding, specialist metalwork or ceilings installations within the UK and be familiar with the systems currently used by Survey
