Job Description

Client: My client has established themselves as one of the UK s premier M&E contractors. Following their formation almost 75 years ago, they have grown their turnover to over £300m per annum. The business boasts an envious track record of delivering some of the UK s and London s landmark projects. Typically they specialise in major shell and core projects in sectors such as; commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical and education. Despite their size, this Tier 1 M&E Contractor has fantastic staff retention rates with a reputation for looking after their staff. They offer excellent exposure and internal training schemes with a hands-on approach to developing their staff.

Role: Mechanical Project Manager - Central London - £400-£450 per day

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a £5-10M package within their own discipline, reporting into a lead project manager. The project will be either a commercial new build or fit out. Key to this role is managing the project at site level; ensuring it is completed on time, to a high quality and within budget.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Tender review/validation
  • Design Management (reviewing design liaising with client, main contractor and consultants)
  • Procurement of subcontractors, kit and plant
  • Technical submittals
  • RFIs Liaison with client team, main contractor and sub contractors
  • Value Engineering where applicable
  • Programming of works using MS Project or Asta project
  • Health & Safety management (RAMs)
  • Commercial Responsibility, assisting with sub contractor variation accounts working alongside project specific Quantity Survey.
  • Management of variations
  • Team Coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers and supervisors)
  • Progress meetings with sub contractors, client and internal meetings
  • Overseeing commissioning stages
  • Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience working in the commercial sector
  • Experience managing projects to a minimum of £5M within your own discipline
  • A minimum 5 years experience in a management role
