Estimator / Quantity Surveyor / Contract Manager
Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £80,000 + Car Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Pension

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a growing main contractor based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, who is seeking an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor / Contract Manager to join their expanding team.

The company has been operating successfully for over 10 years and delivers a diverse range of refurbishment, fit-out, and new build projects across the retail, commercial, MoD, and local authority sectors. Project values typically range from £100K to £4M.

Due to continued growth, the company is now looking for a commercially minded and versatile professional to undertake a combined role covering estimating, quantity surveying, and contract management duties. The successful candidate will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from pre-tender through to handover and final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing accurate and competitive tender estimates and cost plans
  • Preparing take-offs, pricing documents, and subcontractor enquiries
  • Managing project costs from pre-construction through to final account
  • Budget control, cost reporting, and cashflow forecasting
  • Subcontractor procurement and commercial management
  • Contract administration and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Planning and programming projects
  • Supporting health & safety and overall project delivery
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal delivery teams
  • Identifying commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Managing projects from inception through to handover and final account

Essential Requirements

  • Strong experience in estimating, quantity surveying, and commercial management
  • Good understanding of construction methods and cost control principles
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities across different project stages
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and commercial / estimating software
