Freelance Mechanical Supervisor Residential Decarbonisation Project

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Mechanical Supervisor to oversee mechanical works on a large-scale residential decarbonisation project within occupied housing properties.

This role is ideal for a supervisor with experience in energy efficiency upgrades, heating system replacements, and low-carbon technologies within residential environments.

The Role

• Supervise mechanical installations including heating system replacements, pipework upgrades, and low-carbon heating systems

• Oversee installation of air source / ground source heat pumps, upgraded domestic heating systems, and associated distribution pipework

• Coordinate subcontractors and specialist installers

• Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification

• Manage works within occupied residential properties, ensuring minimal disruption to residents

• Conduct toolbox talks and ensure strict H&S compliance

• Liaise with Project Managers, consultants, and client representatives

• Monitor quality, testing, commissioning, and handover processes

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on residential decarbonisation or energy upgrade projects

• Strong background in domestic heating systems and residential mechanical installations

• Experience with heat pump installations and low-carbon technologies

• SSSTS or SMSTS

• CSCS Supervisor/Manager card

• Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance procedures

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
