We re looking for a Design Manager to join a busy main contractor and support the delivery of exciting building projects across Manchester. This is a permanent role offering long-term career progression within a company that genuinely values professional development and internal growth.
What will you be doing
You will take ownership of the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and delivered on programme. Working closely with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors, you will play a key role in driving quality and managing risk through each scheme.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and coordinating the design process from tender through to handover
- Liaising with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors
- Reviewing and managing design programmes to ensure project deadlines are met
- Identifying and mitigating design risks and opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with current building regulations and technical standards
- Leading design team meetings and driving collaborative project delivery
- Supporting the commercial and operational teams with design-related matters
What are they looking for
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment
- Strong understanding of D&B projects across commercial or residential sectors
- Excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive design programmes
- Technical knowledge of UK building regulations and construction processes
- Relevant construction or design qualification
