Freelance Health & Safety Advisor Somerset 12 Months - £neg

An established and reputable M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a large-scale manufacturing facility in Somerset.

This is a site-based role, working closely with the project, construction, and supply chain teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day health & safety support across the M&E works on site
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with H&S legislation, company policies, and project requirements
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations
  • Support the preparation, review, and implementation of RAMS and permits to work
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, producing reports and corrective actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety inductions as required
  • Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and client teams on all H&S matters
  • Promote continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture on site

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor on M&E or construction projects
  • Experience working on large, complex sites (manufacturing / industrial projects preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practice
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential)
  • IOSH membership or working towards (preferred)
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage at all levels on site
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced site environment
